This is such a terrible tragedy.
Stephanie James, a 33-year-old zookeeper and elephant trainer, was crushed to death by an 8,000 pound elephant named Edie at a zoo in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Reports say the elephant pressed its trainer against the wall and kept pushing, until James died of internal injuries.
We don't even want to imagine the pain she felt before her untimely and tragic death.
It's such a shame to hear this news, but at the end of the day, even animals in the zoo are still wild at heart and unpredictable at times.
Zoo officials say Edie, the 26-year-old elephant, will not be punished and how could she? The gal probably wasn't even aware of the damage she was causing her poor trainer.
We wish Stephanie's family and friends the best as they deal with her loss.

We WERE happy to say that we ruled out biblical plague…but now we're not so sure once again.
Earlier today, we mentioned that officials believe the thousands of bird deaths in Arkansas were a result of massive trauma.
Now, we've learned about ANOTHER incident where 500 birds fell out of the sky in Louisiana, 300 miles south of the bird-death location in Arkansas.
According to authorities, these birds died due to blood clots that formed from internal injuries.
SO how'd they get the injuries then?
We REALLY hope this doesn't happen again, and we ESPECIALLY hope it doesn't happen anywhere near us!
