sean penn does something awesome

You've come a loooong way, Spicoli! We are impressed! Ha!

During a recent dinner party at his house, Sean Penn sat down with one of his friend's dates, who happened to be an Iraq war veteran.

The vet opened up to Sean about his massive medical bills, and the actor/activist listened intently and took him very seriously.

Here's what a source had to say about it:

Former Marine Wants To Adopt Her Retired Military Dog

Megan Levy is a former marine with two tours of Iraq under her belt.

She became a handler for bomb sniffing dogs.

But when she retired, her dog, Rex, didn't.

After serving some more, Rex eventually came down with a condition that would lead to him having to be put to sleep if he couldn't be adopted.

So Megan has been fighting through the bureaucracy and red tape to try and get her dog to her.

Due to the power of this story (and the fact she received a purple heart) a senator, the owner of the Yankees and many others have stepped in to try and get her dog to her.

So amazing!

iraq lgbt emo massacre

Oh wow… we really hope this isn't true.

Multiple reports claim there have been militia attacks targeted at the emo youth and LGBT community!!

Apparently those behind the attacks "warned" the communities of the upcoming massacre a month ago with posters, etc. posted throughout cafes and street corners in Baghdad.

Since the attacks began, local media has reported the numbers of victims so far to range from

The United States Ends Military Mission in Iraq!

Today, we are proud to be American!

After nine years, the U.S. military has formally ended its mission in Iraq!

U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta flew into Baghdad today to partake in a low-key ceremony outside a terminal, during which American troops lowered their command's flag that officially marked Operation New Dawn, rolled it around the staff, and slipped into a camouflage cloth case.

Panetta says:

"To be sure, the cost was high, in blood and treasure for the United States and for the Iraqi people. Those lives were not lost in vain. They gave birth to an independent, free and sovereign Iraq. Let me be clear. Iraq will be tested in the days ahead by terrorism and by those who would seek to divide it; by economic and social issues; by the demands of democracy itself. Challenges remain, but the U.S. will stand by the Iraqi people as they navigate those challenges to build a stronger and more prosperous nation.”

Amazing!

We were starting to worry whether or not we'd ever see this day come!

But we're so thankful that it has!

Beam Of Light Shines Down On Miracle Dog

hero-dog-beam-of-light.jpg

We previously mentioned that when a young soldier, Justin Rollins, was killed in Iraq a dog he had rescued only the night before was sent home to his parents.

The dog, who they named Hero, has been a beacon of strength for them in what has been an impossibly trying time.

A reporter, Kimberly Launier of ABC news went to his parents home and was interviewing them about their fallen son and their dog Hero.

Launier was filming Hero running around the backyard when suddenly, the clouds broke and a single beam of light, shone down on Hero.

She was amazed and on playback of the video, saw that she caught it!

When she showed the video to Justin's parents they were all laughing and dancing… they wondered if it was a sign from Justin.

Excuse us… we need to grab a tissue.
