61-Year-Old J.K. Simmons Is Getting Absolutely RIPPED For Justice League — Just Like These Other Stars Who Bulked Up For Movie Roles!

no title

Whenever an actor is tapped to play a superhero on the big screen, they usually have to bulk up for the role.

And even though J.K. Simmons isn't playing a super powered character in the upcoming Justice League movie, the 61-year-old decided to get super jacked anyway!

The Oscar winner is getting his swole on to play Commissioner Gordon — and is now so ripped, he could probably hold is own in a fight scene against Ben Affleck's Batman!

To get those insane guns, the actor has been training with retired Marine Aaron Williamson — who also reportedly helped Zac Efron get into shape. (We owe this man a lot, apparently!)

But Simmons is far from the first actor to pump weights for the big screen. Former Batman Christian Bale, Emily Blunt, and Chris Hemsworth are just a few more stars who bulked up for movie roles…

Monday marks a particularly special day in Boston as the 120th Boston Marathon will be held throughout the city.

This has become even more emotional since the bombing attacks from 2013 transformed the event from an exhibition of human fitness to an expression of human indomitability.

Mark Wahlberg is making a movie about those tragic events, titled Patriots Day.

On Saturday, the Ted star decided to take some time away from filming to stop by the Revere Hotel Boston to visit the 68 members of the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital's Race for Rehab team to give an inspiring speech!

Part of what makes this so cool is not only is Spaulding Rehab the location where 32 bombing survivors were treated following the tragedy, but there are three survivors on the current team — Heather Abbott, Roseanne Sdoia, and police officer Dic Donohue.

Mark showed up in a blue sweatshirt, his Red Sox baseball hat, and some blue jeans as he addressed the small group saying:

Batman better watch out for flying cymbals!

Zack Snyder's latest casting addition for his Justice League movie might give fans a bit of Whiplash — as it's been reported that J.K. Simmons has been cast as Commissioner Gordon in the upcoming film!

The Oscar winner will play the Gotham City police commissioner in the two-part action flick — joining Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher), who team up Avengers style to defeat whatever evils come their way!

Obviously, this won't be the first comic book character Simmons has portrayed on the big screen — the actor played fast-talking publisher J. Jonah Jameson in the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies.

Fans had been hoping he would reprise his role in the upcoming reboot, but with this new part we're guessing that's off the table…

But the 61-year-old isn't the first actor to make the jump from Marvel to DC Comics and star as more than one comic book hero! Find out which other stars have donned multiple superhero costumes (below)!

Tracy Morgan, J.K. Simmons, & The Cast Of The Producers Spoof Movies — And Donald Trump — On Jimmy Kimmel's Oscars Special!

no title

He sure knows how to put on a show!

Just because the Oscars end once they announce Best Picture doesn't mean Hollywood has to stop partying.

While many A-listers are attending parties, Jimmy Kimmel takes it upon himself every year to put on the best ABC after-show possible, and this year was no exception!

Video: See ALL Of The Funniest Moments From The Oscars!

We already showed you how Ben Affleck snuck Matt Damon onto the Jimmy Kimmel Live! set under his coat, but two of the other best moments from the late night show were much more movie-centric.

First, Jimmy teamed up with Tracy Morgan and J.K. Simmons to make Clubber, a much less inspiring sequel to Creed

Then, he really knocked it out of the park with Matthew Broderick, Nathan Lane, and Cloris Leachman in Trumped, a parody about the Donald Trump campaign that perfectly follows the plot of The Producers.

Ch-ch-check out Clubber and Trumped (below)!!!

Singing Jimmy Fallon is our favorite Jimmy Fallon!

We always love it when the Tonight Show host brings a musical element to his show!

And with Billy Joel as a guest, Fallon saw the perfect opportunity to have a jam sesh with the legend and sing a… Rolling Stones song?

The Piano Man took to the keys to sing The Stones' Beast of Burden backed by The Roots – Fallon even channeled his inner Mick Jagger by hopping on Billy's piano!

And for what it's worth, the two did eventually sing one of Joel's songs…

During the commercial break, Jimmy, Billy, and guest J.K. Simmons broke out into a spontaneous Doo-Wop version of For The Longest Time with the singer's band — and it was quite possibly the coolest moment ever caught on camera!
