So tragic!

After hitting the $1 mil jackpot, Urooj Khan thought the world was his oyster.

The day after the state cut him an oversized check for his winnings, the Illinois resident died! Of cyanide poisioning!

Ugh!! It's like a deleted lyric from Alanis Morissette's Ironic!

Everyone initially assumed the 46-year-old man died of natural causes, but, when an unspecified relative came forward and asked police to investigate further, it lead them to traces of the poison.

You had a better chance of being struck by lightning, but the odds were certainly in the favor of THREE very lucky Mega Millions ticket holders last night, who who all selected the winning numbers 02-04-23-38-46 - and will now share - the $640 million PRIZE!

Which means they'll be each taking home around $213 before taxes!

Apparently, the winning numbers were sold in Bed Rud, Illinois - by someone using Quick Pick to select his or her numbers - Baltimore County, Maryland - where someone picked up their ticket from the store, and then in Kansas!

Amazing!

Can U imagine just pretty much being handed that kind of money - out of EVERYONE who went nuts trying to win!

Worst. Software Error. Ever.

Earlier this year, 26-year-old Swiss national Behar Merlaku tried his luck at a slot machine in an Austrian casino in the tiny town of Bregenz…and it did NOT go as planned.

The machine started ringing and flashing for Merlaku, and he was informed that he'd just won $57 million…until casino owners told him that there'd been a "software error" and they offered him $100 and a free meal as a consolation prize.

Any Costco employees who didn't join that pool must be KICKING themselves right now!

20 workers at a Long Island Costco each put in $5 toward the lottery, and the group just won a $201.9 million Powerball jackpot! WOWSA!

The winning employees went for a lump sum payout instead of receiving winnings over a 20-year period, so they'll be bringing home $70.2 million after taxes.

No word yet on whether or not there will be massive job fair at their Costco soon, because the group hasn't decided if they're going to quit their jobs or not.

Way to raise those stakes!

Simon Cowell, FOX, and the rest of the folks behind the upcoming U.S. X Factor have announced via press release that the winner of the competition series will receive a $5 million record deal!!!

This will be the "largest guaranteed prize in television history!" SO intense!

Auditions start on Mar. 27 at the L.A. Sports Arena, and they'll continue at TBD venues/dates in New York/New Jersey, Miami, Chicago, Seattle, and Dallas.

Here's what Simon had to say about it:

“I like the idea that a 12-year-old on this show can compete with an older singer and a singing group. I’ve never believed there should be a cut-off age for talent, and we are going to put our money where our mouths are with the $5 million recording contract. I’m doing this show in America because I genuinely believe we can find a superstar.”

We still can't get over it! A $5 million jackpot???
