The front running candidate for president of the Philippines is getting major heat for a disturbingly distasteful joke about… gang rape.
Davao City mayor Rodrigo "Digong" Duterte caused an uproar in the country after making the awful comments during a campaign rally last week.
A video that was shot during the April 12 rally in Quezon City shows the mayor discussing an incident that occurred at the Davao jail in August 1989, during his first term as mayor.
Inmates of the prison took over the guards and took their weapons, taking 15 people hostage — including Australian lay minister Jacqueline Hamill. According to other hostages who escaped, Hamill was raped by her captors before they slashed her throat.
So when the presidential candidate talked about this already harrowing tale during a rally, he remembered how mad he was — that he didn't get to rape her first, quipping:
