It's about time!
Top Chef judge Tom Colicchio was named the nation's best chef by the James Beard Foundation.
He has been a finalist for the prestigious award seven times since 2002. And with restaurants such as Craft (named nation's best new restaurant when first opened), Craftsteak and Colicchio & Sons in NYC, the man is doing well for himself.
Colicchio began racking up awards in 1994 when him and his partner Danny Meyer opened Gramercy Tavern, earning three stars from The New York Times and several Beard awards, including best chef in NYC in 2000 and outstanding restaurant service in 2001. And his cookbook, Think Like a Chef, earned him a Beard cookbook award in 2001.
