A driver named Jason Leffler from NASCAR was killed in an accident Wednesday night after a heated race in a dirt car event in New Jersey.
He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. He was 37 years old.
Here's what NASCAR said in a statement:
"NASCAR extends its thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies to the family of Jason Leffler who passed away earlier this evening. For more than a decade, Jason was a fierce competitor in our sport and he will be missed."
What's even more heartbreaking is Mr. Leffier leaves behind a 5-year-old son named Charlie Dean.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Leffier's family during this tremendously difficult time.

We actually think that this might be worth watching!
Jersey Shore's Pauly D has reportedly started production on his own spin-off reality series, tentatively titled Pauly's Entourage, that will chronicle the guido as he travels the country as a professional DJ!
A source reveals:
"He started shooting in his hometown in Rhode Island on Thursday and by Saturday the entire production had moved to The Palms in Las Vegas. They're looking to choose a deejay-related name and so far the working title is Pauly's Entourage. They are having a blast shooting it and it's expected to do really well."
His 'Entourage' will include his road manager Big Mike, his bodyguard Jerry, and his childhood friend Jason!
Pauly is definitely one of the more HIGHlarious, laid back and drama-free castmembers, so we're excited that he's stepping out on his own! But hopefully our beloved Snooki Snickers can stop by for a guest appearance!
And no one seems more shocked than Austin's father Wade Harrouff, who completely broke down on Dr. Phil as he apologized to the families of the victims on behalf of his son's disturbing actions.
In a sneak peek at next Wednesday's show, the Florida dentist describes his life as "the biggest nightmare," revealing more bizarre details about his 19-year-old son's "manic" behavior on the night of the killings.
