Comedy Central is developing an animated series about Jesus Christ, titled JC.

The premise is that Jesus wants to escape the shadow of his "powerful but apathetic father" and make a normal life for himself in NYC. All God does is play video games while Christ is the "the ultimate fish out of water" in the big city.

"In general, comedy in purist form always makes some people uncomfortable," said Kent Alterman, head of original programming at Comedy Central.
