Legendary French Filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard will not be attending the November 13 Governors Awards dinner, where he was scheduled to receive an honorary Oscar.
Here's what the President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Tom Sherak, had to say about it:
“He reiterated his thanks for the award, and also sent his good wishes to the other individuals being honored the same night – Kevin Brownlow, Francis Ford Coppola and Eli Wallach – who he refers to as ‘the three other musketeers.’ ”
The dinner ceremony will pay tribute to Godard through a series of film clips, as well as commentary by admirers of the man…even though he won't be attending the event.
Seems like a kind of cold move to us, Godard.
Looks like despite his plan to snub the Academy, they're going to deliver Godard's award to his home in Switzerland.
Why do U think Godard is snubbing the academy? Does he just hate travel? Is there something else going on?
