A Swim In Jellyfish Lake

Sarosh Jacob took his Canon DSLR to a lake called Jellyfish Lake.

And what did he do?

He dove right in.

The jellyfish were trapped on the island thousands of years ago when the oceans receded and had no predators so they evolved and lost most of their stingers.

Check out the above beautiful video.

Jellyfish Are The New Lava Lamp!

Introducing the perfect pet for stoners!

This is the fist aquarium made just for jellyfish! Other salt water aquariums will suck up the creature thats 90% water. But now, thanks to Kickstarter donors designer Alex Andon has created a way to keep your floating friends as pets.

Huffington Post explains how the tank works:

The Desktop Jellyfish Tank pulls water through a layer of rocks at the bottom of the tank. The water is then pulled up one side of the cylindrical tank to the surface. It then goes back down the other side and is sucked up once again by the rocks.

What's cooler than having an exotic pet? Having a tank that lights up with multii-colored LED lights! Yeah, no one is trying to hide the stoner appeal.

Each fish will cost $39 and will be shipped overnight from the company’s breeding center. You can also buy frozen plankton from Jellyfish Art, which is what the little critters dine on. A $350 donation will get you a spot on the waiting list.

Are Jellyfish Trying To Kill Us?

Are Jellyfish Trying To Kill Us?

And we thought sharks were dangerous!

An invasion of jellyfish into a cooling water pool at a Scottish nuclear power plant kept its nuclear reactors offline on Wednesday, a phenomenon which may grow more common in future, scientists said.

Apparently nuclear power plants draw water from nearby seas or rivers to cool down their reactors, but if the filters which keep out marine animals and seaweed are clogged, the station shuts down to maintain temperature and safety standards.

We're not experts on nuclear science or anyshiz — but we're pretty sure this could cause some lagit radiation and/or explosions.

But, we hear everything's fine and they are currently working to clear the jellyfish from the waters near the power station.

Plan foiled for now, jellyfish!

Jellyfish Are Taking Over The Oceans

jellyfish

This sounds like a line in a sci-fi movie.

However, it is somewhat true. As the acidity of the world's oceans rises, it kills off predators. This allows jellyfish to thrive!

This acidity is due to the overlooked effect of burning fossil fuels. Higher levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere doesn’t just trigger climate change but can make the oceans more acid.

It turns out, lucky for them, jellyfish are immune to the effects of acidification. This allows them to survive while many other creatures are not.

Yikes! This is kind of creepy!!
