This is so sad.
Police have broken their silence and given their insight to what they believe happened to Jerold Joseph Williams — the boy who went missing from Kaibab National Forest campsite near the Grand Canyon last week.

On August 6, Jerold and his mother wandered away from their camp group at around 1:30, and shortly after his mother lost sight of the five-year-old as he was chasing grasshoppers.
A few hours later, the police were called and a massive search party was put together that lasted until Monday, when they found the lifeless body of the young boy.
Authorities are now saying that the boy most likely died of exposure, and that it didn't take long. They said:

The boy was part of a group of about 20 people when he and his mom had wandered off about 100 to 200 yards away from the group's main cap site. The little boy was looking for and chasing grasshoppers when his mom "lost sight" of him around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.
The mother didn't contact authorities immediately because they felt they would find Jerold fairly easily. After four hours, and an exhaustive search, they finally called the police.
By the time Coconino County Sheriff's Office received the call at 5:30 p.m., they said:
