WWE Indefinitely Suspends Jerry 'The King' Lawler After The Wrestler & His Fiancée Are Arrested On Domestic Assault Charges
Well, we've seen healthier relationships…
Jerry "The King" Lawler was arrested early Friday morning alongside his bride-to-be Lauryn McBride for domestic assault. Oy!
The former wrestler, 66, and the 27-year-old were both taken into custody by the Shelby County Sheriff's Office in Memphis, TN around 1 a.m. after an argument clearly got out of hand.
According to reports, McBride claims the color commentator struck her in the head and pushed her against the stove. Lawler counterclaims McBride scratched his face, threw a candle at him, and kicked him in the groin.
Additionally, McBride alleges Lawler put an unloaded pistol on the kitchen counter and told her to kill herself. Lawler argues McBride was intoxicated and was the one who got the gun.
Wow. So terrifying.
WWE released a statement after catching wind of the arrest, saying:
"WWE has zero tolerance for matters involving domestic violence, and per our policy, Jerry Lawler has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest."
Good on ya, WWE!
