Shakira is making a difference!
She traveled to Jerusalem as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador to visit the Max Payne “Hand in Hand” School for Bilingual Education to talk to students about the importance of getting an education.
Each class in the school is taught by two teachers, each who speak a different language. The goal of the school is to give students the ability to promote peace, coexistence, and equality by appealing to different cultures.
“I’m convinced, as many people are, that investing in education is the best strategy for peace and global stability, and the earlier, the better. Early investment, early childhood nutrition, and basic health care from birth through the age of 6 are essential for a child to develop the actual physical means to learn: to perform better in class, but also better throughout life.”
Keep up the good work, bb!!
So…this is happening.
Today, Glenn Beck announced on his radio show that he'll be heading to Israel this August for a Restoring Courage rally, which will take place in Jerusalem.
Here's what his website says about the event:
"Taking a stand is not always easy, but now more than ever it is imperative that we live with conviction and do the right thing. It is time for us to courageously stand with Israel."
Here's what Beck had to say about his rally:
"I invite you to join me in Israel this summer to stand together and show the world what living a life of faith and honor really means. I invite you to join me in my quest to Restore Courage."
"God is involved in man's affairs, but so is the force of darkness. I believe I've been asked to stand in Jerusalem. Many in the history of man have had the opportunity to stand with the Jewish people…and they have failed."
"We have gone to the capitals of our states and to the capitals of our government. We have talked to all the power brokers. The only power broker, the only seat of government that can and will solve this problem with or without us is God. It is time to return inside the walls that surround Jerusalem and stand with people of all faiths, all around the world."
"In August, whether I’m there with seven people or 10 people or there alone, I will be counted and I will stand. I ask you to join me. I also ask you to take this message globally, to take this to every corner of the earth. If you have family living overseas, this is not an America solution. This is a people of faith solution. This is a people all over the world solution. I ask you to help get this word out.”
Oh, wow! We didn't think it was possible, but we're even MORE excited to see this now!
Lady GaGa has received quite a bit of flack from various Catholic groups about her music video of her latest single, Judas - WITHOUT IT EVEN BEING RELEASED, MIGHT WE ADD - but the singer recently opened up about what to actually expect when it premieres on American Idol next week, and she wants everyone to know that neither the song nor the video are supposed to be blasphemous, but quite the opposite - a 'metaphor for forgiveness!'
Well the video, in essence, suggests that [pauses] forgiveness and betrayal are hand in hand and that… how do I say this? The video puts destiny above all things and postures that the mistakes in your life are in fact not mistakes at all, they are just part of your overarching potential and your destiny.
I want to allow the video to speak for itself but I will say that the theme of the video and the way that I wanted to aesthetically portray the story was as a motorcycle Fellini movie where the apostles are revolutionaries in a modern-day Jerusalem. And I play Mary Magdalene leading them into the town where we meet Jesus and I will leave the rest for you to see. But it's meant more to celebrate faith than it is to challenge it.
Such a wonderful message - underneath a really effing RAD idea!
It sounds absolutely fascinating!
And yes, we're very much looking forward to seeing it for ourselves!
Let the cultural baptism commence!
"Sharing Love & Light while in Israel," he Tweeted. "Asking 4 the energy 2 forge bonds with our similarities & find compromise in our differences."
The two landed at Ben Gurion Airport on Sunday and drove straight to Jerusalem to visit the Western Wall and The Kotel Tunnels. After an hour, they drove to Bezeq Expo in Tel Aviv, where Ashton gave a speech and Demi watched from the audience.
They were rumored to be renewing their vows, but their rep denies it.
Wonder what they are hoping to gain from their spiritual journey!
