Cathriona White's mother is finally speaking out.
Following Cat's tragic suicide in September, there was a lot of speculation about her mother's involvement in the sad incident. One story in particular suggested that the stylist's mom, Brigid Sweetman, called her daughter a "failure" just a week before her death.
Now Sweetman is fighting back at the "devastating" lies, claiming:
"There's a story that has been published saying that I sent Cathriona an email on her birthday nine days before she died, calling her a failure. I don't know who would say such lies, but this is something that never, ever happened. I am devastated people would say this."
Well, if this allegation is false, then we really feel for Brigid.
Not only have the rumors affected the Ireland native personally, but she's also experienced personal attacks her physical safety. According to the grandmother, people have written "die b*tch" on her house with white paint along with other threatening messages.
"It has made my grief 100 times worse, if that could be possible. And that's why I am putting the record straight here. I feel I have to speak out now because I am in fear in my own house. Basically, the way it is here now, I am scared to go out of the door. I would love to move out of this house but I can't afford it."
Hopefully the drama will stop soon. Even if Sweetman did have problems with White, it doesn't warrant violence.
Speaking on the relationship she had with the Los Angeles resident, she confided:
"I absolutely adored Cathriona, like I adore all my three children. They are my life and I'm so proud of all of them. From the moment she was born, I cherished her. Calling her a failure is never something I would ever have done. It's an awful thing to say to anyone, let alone your own child. Yes, we had had an argument. But what family doesn't argue at some time? It was over nothing and it would have been resolved. It's just hard when your daughter is on the other side of the Atlantic, you can't put your arms around her."
How heartbreaking. It just goes to prove that everything is fleeting and that no problem is permanent.
The only thing that is permanent, however, is true love. Cathriona's ex Jim Carrey posted this touching message shortly after her death:
So sad. We hope everyone in this situation finds peace.
