Ugh! This breaks our heart into teeny-tiny pieces!
The White House released a bitter-sweet cacophony of new photos into their Flickr stream this week — hidden among them was one soul-crushing image from December 14 of President Barack Obama listening to counterterrorism advisor John Brennan.
Adam Lanza had just gunned down 26 people at Sandy Hook Elementary School and this haunting portrait of our Commander-in-Chief hearing the news (above) offers insight into why he now calls the "worst day of his Presidency."
Clearly he is simultaneously affected on several levels.
He grieves as the leader of a wounded nation, sure, but also as a father to two children similar in age to those killed at the school.
While the pic is tough to swallow, it serves as a chilling reminder that this heinous crime victimized more people than we may realize.
