Obama & Congress Want To Regulate Beauty Marketing

julia-roberts-lancome-cosmetics-ad.jpg

We've all seen crazy commercials advertising miracle creams that NEVER work, but all that is going to change REALLY soon if the Obama administration has its way!

In an effort to stop cosmetics companies from making outlandish claims AND using harmful ingredients, Obama’s fiscal 2013 budget includes $19 million "in user fees for the cosmetics industry to fund enhanced monitoring". The new proposal would also make registration of ALL ingredients mandatory.

The FDA believes

Johnson & Johnson Has Been Using Toxic Chemicals In Baby Products!

johnson johnson products toxic chemicals asian child

This one is a shocker!

Johnson & Johnson, the company that gives us that wonderful baby smell with their "no more tears" products has been using cancerous chemicals this whole time!!

Which ones?

Dioxane, Quaternium-15, and Formaldehyde!!!

The chemicals are described as:

Dioxane is classified as a probable human carcinogen by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. It is known to be carcinogenic in animals and is suspected to damage the central nervous system, liver and kidneys.

Quaternium-15 is a preservative that kills bacteria by releasing formaldehyde.

Formaldehyde has legitimate uses as both a disinfectant and embalming fluid. Formaldehyde was named a human carcinogen by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in June 2011.

Fortunately, JJ has bucked up and were probably forced to decided to begin phasing the chemicals out…within the next two years.

But think of how many people have been using these products on their children?? We know people who still use it on themselves! It makes for a great face wash in the shower if you have stubborn eye make-up.

But wow, we'll definitely be telling friends to halt their use until 2014!

No more tears?? Uhm, have you ever been to a funeral??

Tylenol Recalled…Again!

Tylenol 8 hour recall

Ugh! Tylenol really needs to get its act together!

Coming off of a massive recall just a few months ago, the over-the-counter pain reliever has been recalled again for complaints of a musty odor coming from the bottles.

The odor is thought to be caused by a chemical named 2,4,6-tribromoanisole, which is applied to wooden pallets that are used to transport and store packaging materials.

Yuck!

About 34,000 bottles of the 150 count Tylenol 8 Hour extended release caplets were recalled Tuesday.

Anyone who suspects they have an affected bottle should stop using the product immediately and contact McNeil Consumer Healthcare, either at www.tylenol.com or by calling 1-888-222-6036 (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern Time) for instructions about receiving a refund or product coupon.

Epic Recall By Johnson & Johnson!

johnson and johnson epic recall

Looks like you'll want to go with generic brands for the moment, because nearly 50 million Johnson & Johnson bottles and packages of medicine have been recalled!

At this time, J&J has said that a "cleaning problem" and a "minor labeling irregularity" were the causes for the recall.

Some of the recalled products include Tylenol, Benadryl, Sudafed PE, and Rolaids.

According to J&J, it is "very unlikely" that their cleaning issues negatively affected product quality.

This does NOT fill us with confidence for J&J's products.

Get your act together, Johnson & Johnson! This isn't the first time you've had a major recall like this.

Very disappointing.

Johnson & Johnson Announces Huge Recall

Johnson & Johnson Announces Huge Recall

Johnson & Johnson has some rough times ahead of them.

They just recalled 12 million bottles of over-the-counter Mylanta and almost 85,000 bottles of AlternaGel liquid antacid.

The recall happened after the company realized that there were small traces of alcohol in the products that they had not properly labeled on the packaging.

While wholesalers are required to send back the products, Johnson & Johnson says that consumers may continue to use the medicines, which contained concentrations of less than 1 percent alcohol.

We hope they can get this cleared up!
