You could call it artistic differences or you could call it a devise plot. Either way, Jon Favreau is OUT!
Sources have been informed that Jon, who helmed the first two Iron Man flicks, has told Marvel Studios he won't direct the third movie. The story that is circulating the inner circles of the project is that Marvel was insistent on putting a lot of other characters into the third movie in the wake of The Avengers. In truth, Jon had mentioned in a recent interview that he felt there wasn't much "clarity" in the movie. He added:
“In theory, Iron Man 3 is going to be a sequel or continuation of Thor, Hulk, Captain America and Avengers. This whole world … I have no idea what it is. I don’t think they do either, from conversations I’ve had with those guys.”
So the studio wanted to pack in as many stars as possible to maybe bank on their names. That's one thought.
Another is that Marvel intentionally pushed for that kind of story knowing it would piss Jon off, forcing him to leave the project and save the studio millions of dollars. Some industry insiders think that this might have been the case, as Jon comes at a pretty hefty price.
That's one pretty shifty tactic… but it seems to have worked!
But will the movie be, pardon the pun, without the man behind the mask? Can U think of anyone else who might be able to step in for Jon and be as good in the directors chair?
