CNN Beauty Says Goodbye

Keran Chetry Quits CNN

Right after the news of Eliot Spitzer's show being axed, we hear of another CNN personality leaving house.

But this time, it's on their own accord.

Kiran Chetry, the American Morning anchor, has told friends and co-workers she's exiting the building by the end of the month.

Ali Velshi and Christine Romans will continue to serve as interim anchors on the news show.

They should just let Anderson Cooper anchor all day, every day. We'd be just fine with that!

AOL To Fire 900 Employees After Acquiring Huffington Post

AOL Layoffs

That hurts.

In order to integrate the Huffington Post into the AOL family, the company will be eliminating 900 jobs as they restructure the blog to try to return to revenue growth.

AOL's U.S., Chief Executive Officer Tim Armstrong wrote in a memo to employees on Thursday that the company will cut as many as 700 jobs in India and 200 in the U.S.

At the Bloomberg Media Summit in New York, Armstrong said:

“The changes for me today are very personal. AOL employees deserve a tremendous amount of credit because I don’t think it’s easy to go from managing decline to managing growth."

That should ease the pain.

Despite the cuts and the declining revenue even before purchasing the Huffington Post for $315 million, the executive maintains the company is focusing on growth, saying:

“Our strategy remains clear: create high quality content experiences for consumers, at scale. Today, we are announcing an organizational structure that will significantly improve AOL’s ability to focus on growth.”

“AOL will turn around," he added. "I have no doubt about that.”

For the 5,860 employees sake, we hope he's right.

Do U think AOL will turn around with the acquisition of the Huffington Post or continue to decline?

ESPN’s Erin Andrews Reebok Controversy

ESPN’s Erin Andrews Reebok Controversy

ESPN sportscaster Erin Andrews’ journalistic integrity is being called into question.

A couple weeks before she signed on to promote Reebok’s ZigTech line, she reported, "Texas Christian players were slipping in their new Nike cleats during the Rose Bowl." Some people are wondering if she used her position at ESPN to pre-emptively put down Nike and indirectly promote Reebok.

Wrote the New York Times:

“[E]xperts in journalism ethics and others are raising questions about whether her comments — given that the deal may have been in negotiation — constituted a conflict of interest, and whether any journalist should endorse a commercial product.”

ESPN responded by stating, “ESPN has said that Andrews rarely covers stories involving shoes, and that if she did, she would disclose her affiliation with Reebok.”

While her comments about Nike shouldn’t be cause for too much concern, she should make sure to be careful in the future about what she says about shoes!!
