Boxer Alex Brenes' Best Exercises For Losing Belly Fat

Without an ounce of belly fat on his body, we bet boxer Alex Brenes is a pretty good guy to ask for advice to get rid of it!

FitPerez reader Anna is trying to lose weight and asked the accomplished welterweight boxer for the best exercises to lose belly fat, writing:

Hi Alex,

I have a large fatty "pooch" on my lower belly. It's really annoying. I am very overweight and am trying my way to weight loss and healthier lifestyle. My question is what exercises are the best for losing the belly fat and "pooch"?

Great question! Here's what Alex has to say:

Dear Anna,

The lower abdominals, especially in women, are one of the hardest areas to work. It's better to work the fatty deposits when your body temperature is up, incorporating a series of 20 or 30 reps of ab exercises into an interval training plan, for example:

Start with a 5 minute warm up, jog, walk, stairs, etc, to heat up your body & break a sweat, then 1 minute of jumping jacks followed by 30 ab exercises, laying on your back with your feet towards the sky, put your hands under your butt, loweryour legs to the floor & raise up again, keeping your legs straight without touching the ground, keep your upper body stationary-do 4 or 5 sets. You can substitute the jumping jacks with 2 minutes of jumping rope, 3 minutes jogging (brisk) or 1 minute up & down stairs, choose exercises that you feel comfortable with pushing yourself to the limit. Raise the intensity of the exercises as your fitness level improves.

Come down to DeLaBBC & we'll show you how it's done.
