kathryn bigelow has bin laden movie on its way

No surprises here!

Following last night's announcement about Osama Bin Laden's death, we're not shocked to learn that an Osama movie appears to be on its way.

The film is about "the hunt for Osama Bin Laden," and it's being tentatively titled Kill Bin Laden.

The Hurt Locker director Kathryn Bigelow has been in active development on the project, and given last night's news, it's likely to get fast-tracked.

The film is reportedly based on a mission to hunt down and kill Bin Laden when he was reportedly hiding in the mountainous border region between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Certainly a timely project, Kathryn. Good luck…and treat it with care!

Sigourney Weaver Believes Cameron Didn't Get Oscar Because He's Not Female

That's quite the ballsy statement!

Avatar star Sigourney Weaver claims that the only reason James Cameron didn't win the Oscar for Best Director was because he wasn't a lady and the Academy wanted to make history by giving Kathryn Bigelow the grand prize!

Plus, Sigourney's phrasing is just pure clASS!

"Jim didn't have breasts, and I think that was the reason," said Weaver. "He should have taken home that Oscar."

And she's not biased!

"In the past, 'Avatar' would have won because they [Oscar voters] loved to hand out awards to big productions, like 'Ben-Hur.' Today it's fashionable to give the Oscar to a small movie that nobody saw," she continued.

Lame.

Hurt Locker Sued Over Stolen Identity

the-hurt-locker2.jpg

Creators of the film The Hurt Locker was just slapped with a multimillion dollar lawsuit filed by Master Sergeant Jeffrey S. Sarver, who claims the film is based on him.

Those named in the suit are director Kathryn Bigelow, screenwriter Mark Boal, film's distributor Summit Entertainment, producer Voltage Pictures and even Playboy magazine, where Boal was working when he wrote the story about the bomb squad in Iraq that inspired the script.

Sarver's lawyer states:

"Plaintiff, Master Sgt. Jeffrey S. Sarver, is, in fact, the film's main character "Will James" or "Blaster One" [which was Master Sgt. Sarver's "call signal" during his tours of duty in Iraq]." Also, "virtually all of the situations portrayed in the film were, in fact, occurrences involving Master Sgt. Sarver." The film represents "…nothing more than the exploitation of a real life honorable, courageous, and long serving member of our country's armed forces, by greedy, multi-billion dollar 'entertainment' corporations."

Due to an armed services press program, Boal was allowed to be embedded in Sarver's unit, but he allegedly used personal details from his life in an embarrassing way.

"We have no doubt that Master Sergeant Sarver served his country with honor and commitment risking his life for a greater good, but we distributed the film based on a fictional screenplay written by Mark Boal," said Summit Entertainment.

Inneresting.
