We're right there with you, gurl!
The amazing Kaya Scodelario, who portrayed our beloved Effy on the first four seasons of the UK series Skins, apparently managed to catch Monday's premiere of the US remake on MTV, and took to Twitter to address some 'concerns' she had about the direction it took!
Hi every1.Still on holiday with the girls in beautiful jamaica! We watched the American skins… Na mate! Brits did it better…
Can't believe it was bleeped! That's not what skins is about. And making effy blonde? WTF!but good luck 2 them anyway, not about being a hater.
But I did quite like the us shameless…
Shameless has certainly been done right - because it's on SHOWTIME and doesn't have to be censored - and also because it's not afraid to be different from its predecessor!
The US Skins is like going back to your hometown and catching up with old friends. It's essentially the same, but everyone is slightly off, and annoying enough to make you wonder why you liked them in the first place.
Take it from the original Effy, guys! You're missing the point of the show, so before it's too late, we'd suggest thinking about what YOU'RE trying to accomplish with it, instead of being married to a concept that doesn't translate culturally to the states!
