dennis rodman checks into rehab after trip to north korea

After a bizarre year filled with plenty of strange and controversial behavior, Dennis Rodman has checked into rehab for alcohol.

The announcement comes just days after his most recent trip to North Korea, where he organized a basketball game for Kim Jong-Un's birthday.

Dennis has faced plenty of backlash for ignoring the violence happening in North Korea and was accused of being unsympathetic to U.S. prisoner Kenneth Bae in a recent interview.

The former basketballer released an apology for his comments and said he had been drinking during the time of the interview. He also ran into a bit of financial trouble lately as he reportedly owes $453,027.99 in unpaid taxes.

According to sources he checked into a rehabilitation center on Wednesday but it's not clear how long he'll be staying.

This definitely might explain some of Dennis' questionable behavior as of late, and hopefully he's able to get all of the help he needs.

dennis rodman apologizes for comments on kenneth bae

Dennis Rodman has been rubbing a LOT of people the wrong way lately with his controversial trips to North Korea, and it looks like it's starting to catch up with him!

The former NBA big man had a pretty testy interview with CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, and he irked many people when he seemed unsympathetic towards Kenneth Bae, a U.S. citizen who is currently being held captive in North Korea, and seemed to suggest he may have done something wrong to end up in that situation.

Kenneth's family was outraged by the interview, and his sister Terri Chung spoke out about it, saying:

"He was in a position to do some good and to help advocate for Kenneth. He refused to do so. But then instead he has chosen to hurl these outrageous accusations against Kenneth. He clearly doesn't know anything about Kenneth, about his case. And so we were appalled by that."

It didn't take long for Dennis to release an apology to Kenneth and his family, as well as Chris Cuomo, and he says he's learning to put his foot in his mouth when it comes to politics:

Dennis Rodman is FINALLY speaking out about his controversial basketball game he set up in North Korea this week, and he's definitely NOT happy with all of the criticism he's been receiving!

The former NBA champ has been under fire lately for his many trips to the isolated country and befriending their leader Kim Jong-Un, who recently had his own uncle executed.

However, things became extremely heated when, during an interview with CNN's Chris Cuomo, he became visibly upset, and even though, basketball player Charles Smith tried to diffuse the situation, Dennis just let it all unleash on air!

It seems pretty clear that Dennis is still not grasping the seriousness of the situation overseas and how bad the timing of his basketball game is.

dennis rodman returns to north korea for second time this year

We don't normally think of North Korea as a conventional summer vacation spot, but Dennis Rodman has never really been a conventional kind of guy!

The former NBA superstar is making his way back to Pyongyang to talk about the possibility of starting up a basketball league, and of course to say hello to his good friend Kim Jong Un!

In an interview he did recently, Dennis said he would definitely speak to his dictator BFF about the release of U.S. citizen Kenneth Bae, who was sentenced to 15 years hard labor for "hostile acts" against North Korea.

He said:
