Kid Rock And A Church Team Up To Give Back

Kid Rock Church Charity

Add another name to the list of celebrities giving back this holiday season!

The latest is Kid Rock, and he's teaming up with a church in Detroit to give away hundreds of gift baskets and retail gift certificates to needy families!!

Such a sweet thing to do. We're talking 300 gift baskets and 100 gift certificates to grocery stores and stores like Meijer.

Kid Rock has always been known for his giving though, and was even honored by the NAACP for philanthropic contributions this year!

We hope other people can take a page out of his book, seriously!

Kid Rock On A Morning Walk

Kid Rock Walk

Kid Rock was out getting his fitness on in Malibu with what some people are calling a "female companion."

We're not quite sure who this woman is, but if she's invited to a Kid Rock Walk (A "Kid Ralk" ?), we're sure she means something special to the rocker.

But the real question is — is he actually walking like he rocks out at shows?? He should turn it into a fad exercise!

Ha!

Kid Rock Accepts Controversial NAACP Honor

Kid Rock Loves Black People, Accepts NCAAP Award

Kid Rock accepted the controversial Great Expectations Award at the Detroit branch of the NAACP's 56th annual Fight For Freedom Fund Dinner. It's controversial because Kid Rock has been known to use confederate flags during his live shows and videos.

But, as he accepted the award, this happened:

Rock announced $100,000 in donations — five $10,000 grants to Motor City-based organizations and $50,000 to the American Red Cross for tornado victims in U.S. Southern states. Many in the crowd announced at more than 10,000 gave Rock a standing ovation, diffusing a bit of the controversy that surrounded the award.

The NAACP President said that they weren't presenting the flag the award, but rather the man for his works in the community and charity. But that didn't stop a few dozen protestors outside the venue from trying to express their disdain for awarding someone who uses the flag in any context.

Here's what Kid had to say about it:

"I've never flown that flag with hate in my heart, not one ounce." He explained that his use of the image was an "homage" to Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd, who he's name-checked in his songs and whose "Sweet Home Alabama" was an ingredient in his 2008 mash-up hit, "All Summer Long." Rock explained that he made the donations to "turn a negative into a positive," and concluded his speech by saying that, "I love America, I love Detroit and I love black people!"

Honestly, we don't think Kid Rock is racist. We do think using the flag is insensitive, no matter the context, but we really do think he's not doing it as a slight against anyone.

It'd be nice to see him not use it anymore after accepting this award, that's for sure, regardless of his impressive donations!

Make it right, Kid!

Kid Rock Defends Little Rock Performance

Kid Rock Plays During Snow

Kid Rock fancies himself a postman when it comes to his live performances!

Recently, Arkansas has been getting a shizz-load of snow. This last batch just happened to be right before a big Kid Rock concert in Little Rock, but Rock decided to go on with the show.

This pissed off a few of his fans (probably a lot!) who would be unable to make the drive due to safety reasons to go see him!

That's bad news for them, but, there were also a lot of people who bought tickets to the show that were closer and COULD make it! Kid Rock didn't want you to put your life in harms way, he just did was he was supposed to be doing that night!

But that hasn't stopped some outrage from fans on his website and other venues, so KRock himself laid down some responses on his site.

Yes, they may have had a few bad words, but he was upset!

Here's what was said to those who couldn't make it:

"YOU WILL BE GETTING A REFUND, STRAIGHT OUT OF MY POCKET."

That's pretty generous!

More about the conditions:

"It's not easy to tour in these conditions and also be stuck on the road with a teenage son at home and in high school. I make alot of money, no question, but i've never ripped anyone off to do it."

We don't think it IS a rip off, Kid!

We can also understand the flip-side of this, though, where we'd be upset to miss a show we were looking forward to because of weather, but in that case, we should blame the weather and not the musician!

Plus, he totally said he'd give you your money back, which you could use to see him the next time!

Hope the tour is going well, and stay safe out there, bb!

Thoughts??
