Amazon Vs. Apple: Who Has The Best Tablet!

amazon-versus-apple.jpg

We soon find out!

Amazon is reportedly prepared to go head-to-head with Apple this fall by debuting their new Android-powered tablet computer at the same time Mac releases its third-generation iPad. They surely aren't the first to try and take a piece of Apple's tablet pie, but they might be the first with a fighting chance to succeed.

The world's largest online retailer is reportedly producing more than a million tablet computers to debut in October. The tablet will have a 9-inch screen, have a built-in Kindle e-reader and the "ability to deliver digital media from books to music."

Oooh! Sounds pretty sweet to us! Plus, we admire Amazon's moxy! First an App store, then the Cloud, now this! They're coming for you, Apple! Whatcha going to do to fend them off?!

E-Books Outselling Actual Paper Books

e-books-outselling-real-books.jpg

Sadsies.

There's nothing like the smell of a new book.

Unfortunately, going to a book store and picking up a brand new book and breaking it in will be something of the past.

Amazon has announced that their e-books are outselling their actual books.

"For every 100 traditional print volumes sold last month, Amazon sold 105 e-books," the company said.

And their e-reader, the Kindle, is blowing up! Since it's release, it's sold more than 950,000 e-book titles in just four short years. The device itself has sold more copies than the sales of hardcover and paperbooks COMBINED!!

Wowsa!!

The future is here, you guys. One good thing we can see coming from this is that less paper will be used, making for less waste.

There's nothing like a traditional paper book though.

Which do you prefer? Actual book or e-book?

Harry Potter May Be Getting The E-Book Treatment

harry potter may be headed to ereaders

After the final Harry Potter film is released, it'll probably be time to re-read all the books AND re-watch all the movies in an effort to cope.

Looks like we may be able to re-experience the Harry Potter series on our iPads and Kindles, because J.K. Rowling is considering releasing the series in e-book format.

Here's what J.K.'s spokeswoman had to say about it:

"The e-book format is now something that is being actively considered."

Make it happen, J.K.! You KNOW all the technologically-savvy Potter fans out there will jump all over this!

Would U re-purchase the Harry Potter series in e-book format?

apple dominates online purchases of 2010

As we mentioned before, The Amazon Kindle has become the top-selling item in Amazon history, but it wasn't the ONLY the item that sold like crazy in 2010.

Aside from the Kindle, Amazon's other top selling items included the 13.3-inch MacBook Pro and AT&T's Samsung Captivate phone.

As far as eBay is concerned, the hot items that were eBidded for in 2010 included the iPhone 4, Barbie dolls, military jackets, Hot Wheels cars, and the iPad.

According to eBay, they sold 1.63 million iPhone 4-related items, and 631,399 iPad-related items.

Overall, it looks like Apple products dominated in 2010, and we have a feeling they'll continue to do so in 2011.

Did U make any iPurchases in 2010?

And it's a K.O. by the Kindle!

The third generation Kindle has officially beaten out the book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows to become the best-selling product in Amazon history.

Maybe U should consider investing in a Kindle too, Harry.
