The summer months are roasting inland Californians like marshmallows so people are escaping to the beach.

But for La Jolla beachgoers, there's a new menace they're fighting….stingrays!

Little Fuji, a jack russell, was trapped between boulder for 30 hours in La Jolla, California.

A team of lifeguards, firefighters, and County Department of Animal Services personnel came to her rescue.

Fuji was chasing a rat on Tuesday when she chased it between these boulders and got stuck. Thankfully this team was able to rescue her and hand her back over to her owner!

Next time we hope Fuji thinks before chasing a rat into a tight spot!

Remember the days when going to the dentist was something to be feared?

Those days are over…at least for patients of Tracy A. Taddey and her dentist father.

This father/daughter dental team in La Jolla, California have added an adorable new dental assistant to the office: Mona the mutt.

Patients have taken a liking to the chihuahua-dachshund mix, and many of them like to let her sit on their laps during their appointments.

Here's what Tracy had to say about Mona's calming influence in the office:

"Immediately the anxiety level goes down."

But will Mona stay with patients through the entire exam, despite the loud noise of the drill? More from Tracy:

"Nobody likes that sound. I don't even like it. But Mona's fine with it, sleeps right through it. She doesn't move until I take off my gloves. That's what she takes as her signal that we're done."

She's adorable and she keeps patients calm! Sounds like a great dental assistant, if we've ever heard of one!

Thanks for making visits to the dentist a little more bearable, Mona! Keep up the good work!
