Everyone's Talking About Pianist Yuja Wang's Short Dress

A classical music critic is raising hell over Yuja Wang's outfit choice when she performed at the Hollywood Bowl last week.

The 24 year old took the stage in a tight orange mini dress, which according to LA Times writer Mark Swed isn't appropriate classical attire for the year 2011.

He wrote:

"Her dress Tuesday was so short and tight that had there been any less of it, the Bowl might have been forced to restrict admission to any music lover under 18 not accompanied by an adult."

Really?

Classical music is incredibly stuffy, so it's actually refreshing to see a pianist like Yuja wearing something like that.

At the end of the day, does it really matter? She's a young artist performing at the Hollywood Bowl in August! All you need to do is sit back, enjoy the music and let the girl wear whatever she wants.

What do U think about Yuja Wang's dress? Inappropriate or not???

"I question when 'celebrities' write books. But I don't consider myself a celebrity. I consider myself a businesswoman. I'm in business school. I'm a producer and a creator and a storyteller, so it's a little bit different than being an actress and being like, 'I wrote a book!'"

Zooey Deschanel Vs. The LA Times

zooey deschanel vs la times

You tell 'em, Zooey!

In yesterday's LA Times opinion column, journalist Patt Morrison spoke out against Zooey Deschanel for saying the following about Downtown L.A. at the BAFTA gala, which was attended by the royal couple:

"I just don't want them to see the worst of L.A."

Here's what Morrison wrote in response:

"I can't believe Zooey Deschanel is really the snobby cow she came off sounding like Saturday evening."

"I cannot apologize enough to Ms. Deschanel that in some places, the sidewalks do not smell like Jo Malone candles."

When Zooey read Morrison's column, she took to her website to fight the comments. She claims that the quote Morrison took issue with was "taken completely out of context," and that it was meant to be funny.

More from Zooey:

"You also open your piece by calling me a 'cow', which might be your opinion, but I wish a journalist for the Los Angeles Times and KPCC had found a more sophisticated way of sharing a difference in perceived opinion."

Yeah, we're def on Team Deschanel here! It's clear that her comment was innocent enough, and calling her a "snobby cow" was very immature and inappropriate.

Who do U side with here? Zooey or LA Times' Patt Morrison?

Did Burlesque BRIBE Its Way To A Golden Globe Best Picture Nomination??

According to some, YES!

If you were surprised as us over Burlesque getting ANY recognition from the Golden Globes, not to mention a nod in the 'Best Picture' category, then you won't be surprised to hear that many are thinking that the HFPA members had a little, ahem, incentive to give the flick some accolades!

Patrick Goldstein, of the L.A. Times, explains:

"If you talk to the top award-season consultants, they can barely disguise their lack of respect for the HFPA members, who often put themselves in indelicate situations, as with this year's crew, which took a Sony-sponsored trip to Las Vegas to see Cher in concert, then gave her film a stunning best picture nod."

Wowza! Shady shady!

As much as we LOVE our Cher, we have to admit that this movie, as fun as it was, definitely seems a little out of place in the list of nominations!

But who knows?!

What do U think?? Should Burlesque be re-titled Bribe-lesque?

Jillian Michaels Criticizes LA Times For Calling Her a Fraud

Jillian Michaels Criticizes LA Times For Calling Her a Fraud

If you think you’ve seen Jillian Michaels get angry on Biggest Loser, think again.

The LA Times recently wrote an op-ed piece calling Jillian “an actress playing the role of fitness trainer.” Writer and certifiied health expert James S. Fell also said that Michaels’ routines are shoddy and her routines unsafe.

Michaels is not happy about these allegations.

"Apparently I'm an actress. Shame on the Los Angeles Times for saying I'm a fraud and not a trainer. I currently own two certifications, one of which doesn't expire. I developed my own continuing education program for trainers, with sports medicine doctors. I've been a trainer since I was 17-years old for 19 years."

She also said she’s not ruling out legal action, which she isn’t totally unfamiliar with, as she has been sued for products that she endorses that the plaintiffs claim are dangerous/ineffective.

We hope the allegations aren’t true! Jillian can be harsh on Biggest Loser, but she’s definitely helped the contestants on the show.

What do U think about Jillian Michaels?
