Matt Damon Skips Out On Downsizing's Screening Following His Controversial Sexual Misconduct Comments!

Matt Damon is laying low!

Following his controversial statements while commenting on the sexual misconduct scandals rocking Hollywood, Matt Damon was noticeably not present at the Los Angeles screening of his film Downsizing on Monday!

A Paramount Pictures rep spoke on behalf of the A-lister, saying he was out of town "dealing with an ongoing family matter." It's been reported his father isn't doing well.

Regardless, his costars Laura Dern, Kristen Wiig, Hong Chau, Niecy Nash, and director Alexander Payne (above) were all in attendance (above)!

Related: Are Matt's Comments Making Things Worse??

Kristen even spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the controversy:

"It's a delicate thing for everyone to talk about and I feel like we're all learning. I have friends who have just told me stories of things that happened to them that I had no idea about it. It's just been a heartbreaking thing for everybody."

And while Laura hadn't yet heard Matt's comments due to Star Wars promo, she did say, "We've got to all figure out a way to work together" and learn to not "bully [each other] on social media."

It must be so awkward for them!

But maybe it was for the best Damon wasn't there?? Although we sincerely hope his family is okay!!

What do YOU think?

laura dern reveals she forgot about sexual harassment

Sexual harassment has become such a pervasive part of our society that some may not even realize they're victims of misconduct.

Laura Dern had this very revelation following Elle's Women in Hollywood event on Monday. The Emmy winner discussed the event — where Reese Witherspoon revealed she was assaulted by a director at 16 — with Ellen DeGeneres for Wednesday's episode of the chat show.

While at the event Laura touted that she was "one of the lucky ones" as she dodged experiences with sexual misconduct thanks to the guidance of her industry vet parents, Bruce Dern and Diane Ladd.
