Yes! Parker Posey Joins The Cast Of The Big C!

Yeah, it's pretty much safe to assume that The Big C will NOT have to worry about any kind of sophomore slump!

We reported yesterday that both Alan Alda and Hugh Dancy had signed up for roles on the Laura Linney Showtime dramedy's second season, and right on the heels of that, it was announce that our beloved Parker Posey will also be appearing in four episodes!

According to sources, the actress will be playing Poppy, an older woman who develops an interesting relationship with Linney's character's son, played by Gabriel Basso. Meanwhile, it's been revealed that Dancy will play Lee, a cancer patient who becomes friends with Linney's character while they take part in an experimental drug trial!

Excellent! Both parts sound pretty effing inneresting!

And both of them are MORE than capable, so we cannot wait to see them really stick their teeth into the roles!

It's gonna be GOOD.

What do U think?? Will U be watching The Big C when it comes back in June??

Hugh Dancy And Alan Alda Sign On For The New Season Of The Big C!

Oh man! This is quite the incentive to tune in!

Not that we didn't already LOVE the show!

Seksi Brit Hugh Dancy has signed on to appear in the upcoming second season of the Showtime's The Big C, which stars Laura Linney as high school teacher who discovers that she has terminal cancer.

No word on who he'll be playing, but the role is for a recurring character, as well as new castmember Alan Alda's, who will appear as Linney's oncologist!

Nice! We're impressed!

Here's hoping they bring back Cynthia Nixon and Gabourey Sidibe's characters from season one, as well! It would just be A-List overload, no?!

What do U think?? Do U like The Big C??

Laura Linney's Father Has Passed Away

Filed under: TV NewsR.I.P.AwardzSad SadGolden Globes

So incredibly sad.

For those of you who were confused as to why Laura Linney was not on hand to personally accept her Golden Globe for 'Best Actress In A TV Series' at Sunday's ceremony, we're very sad to report that The Big C actress' father, playwright Romulus Linney, passed away the night prior after a battle with lung cancer.

He was 80 years old.

Our thoughts are with Laura and her family during this tough time.

Stay strong.

Showtime Renews The Big C And Weeds!

We hope you're not sick of half hour comedies about mothers on the edge of nervous breakdowns, because there's going to be a lot more where that came from!

Showtime announced this morning that their hit shows The Big C and Weeds have been renewed for the 2011 season!

The Big C, which is headlined by the fantastic Laura Linney as a woman attempting to take her life back after being diagnosed with terminal cancer, debuted to 6.5 million viewers - Showtime's highest rated series debut in eight years. And Weeds, which is in the middle of its sixth season, is still holding an audience of about 6 million itself, so we're not surprised that they're sticking around!

David Nevins, Showtime's President of Entertainment, says:

"For six seasons, we've happily travelled along with Nancy Botwin and we're equally as excited to follow Laura Linney and The Big C team. We're thrilled that these two signature shows will be returning to the network in 2011."

It will certainly be interesting to see how long they can extend The Big C - especially when the main character is set to die from the first episode on!

And we wonder how much longer Weeds can go - it's certainly now the same show it started out as!

What do U think?? Will U continue to watch Weeds and The Big C next year??
