The Fyre Festival Dubbed A Ponzi Scheme In New Legal Docs! Ruh Roh!

Filed under: Icky Icky PooLegal Matters

The Fyre Festival was supposedly a Ponzi scheme.

The Fyre Festival has been called a lot of things, and we can officially add Ponzi scheme to the list!

A class action lawsuit filed against the festival organizers has reached 300 people, according to attorney Mark Geragos, and new legal documents claim that concertgoers suffered from bacterial infections and heat exhaustion, among other things.

According to TMZ, the lawsuit also claims the entire thing was a Ponzi scheme targeting "seemingly successful millennials," and that organizers knew it would be a disaster but wanted to screw people out of as much money as possible.

The lawsuit demands $100 million in damages.

Eek! This just keeps getting worse, doesn't it?

Here's hoping Ja Rule and fellow organizer Billy McFarland have a lot of spare dough lying around. And they might, considering how much people paid to go to this charade.

Johnny Depp Can't Even Learn His Lines Anymore??

no title

Wow, Johnny Depp's ex-management is coming at him HARD.

In case you've been living on an island with nothing but rum, the Pirates Of The Caribbean star sued The Management Group for mis-managing his finances, costing him millions.

Their response has been swift and harsh, as they claimed in their countersuit that Depp spent a ludicrous $2 million a month, including $30K on wine alone!

Now they're making more claims, including one particularly insulting one for an actor with such a career. They say he doesn't learn his lines but instead pays a technician to feed them to him over an earpiece!

The New York Post reports the latest legal docs include the claim that Johnny spends "hundreds of thousands of dollars to employ a full-time sound engineer, who Depp has used for years to feed him lines during film production." And as a further dig:

"I guess the question we're asking, if everyone thinks it's Eminem, and it's listed as 'Eminem-esque,' how can we be confident that Eminem doesn't say we're ripping him off?"

And as Gary mentioned in his opening statements during the first day of trial:

"'Lose Yourself' is an extremely valuable song. The licensing of the song has been extremely carefully controlled. Despite many requests, it has only rarely been licensed for advertising purposes. When licensed, it can command in the millions of dollars. That's how valuable it is."

The National Party denies any wrongdoing. The trial is said to last only a week, so we'll let you know how this turns out soon!

Tomi Lahren Sues Glenn Beck & TheBlaze For Wrongful Termination!!

Tomi Lahren is firing back!

UPDATE 7:27 P.M. EST: TheBlaze has fired back, with a rep saying, "It is puzzling that an employee who remains under contract (and is still being paid) has sued us for being fired, especially when we continue to comply fully with the terms of our agreement with her."

Tomi Lahren just fired back at Glenn Beck in a HUGE way!

Weeks after being fired from his network TheBlaze, the controversial political pundit has decided to file a lawsuit against her former employer.

According to TMZ, she says Glenn's termination of her contract wasn't authorized under the rights of the deal. Additionally, she claims he, along with the company, launched a smear campaign after she came out on The View with her pro-choice beliefs.

The lawsuit explains it as:

"A clear attempt to embarrass, humiliate, and undermine [her] reach to her audience on social media and elsewhere… Beck is known for berating, belittling, and acting in a condescending and heavy-handed way and his treatment of [Tomi], in particular, is a case in point."

As we previously reported, a sticking point in both parties' negotiations was Tomi's Facebook account, which has over four million followers, but is technically property of Beck and the company…

Only problem is the political commentator feels differently.

We'll continue to update you with more details.

Justin Bieber Fires Back At Fan Over Just $5K From His Latest Legal Loss — Get The Deets!

Justin Bieber is PISSED!

Justin Bieber sounds PISSED about his latest legal drama!

After being successfully sued by a fan over canceling his Purpose tour meet and greets, the singer is reportedly demanding the judgement be canceled.

According to the DailyMail, Melissa Matthai paid $1,856.35 for VIP packages for herself and her teen daughter to see Justin at his Miami concert in July. After not being refunded for the full price of the package, she sued the singer for "breach of contract, negligent misrepresentation, and violation of the state's Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act."

As the 23-year-old didn't show up to court or even have any legal representation there, a judge awarded Melissa the costs for the price of the packages, in addition to $3,240 to cover legal fees and court costs. All in all, it was a total of $5,298.75.

Except Justin is claiming he was never served any papers, and demanded the judgement be vacated AKA canceled. Then this week, the Canadian star hit back at Melissa, by asking the judge to sanction her for costing him money.

It's kind of alarming Bieber would be upset over $5K considering all the money he made by nearly ripping off his fans, but maybe it's the principle of the matter…

Then again, this is probably how his fans felt when he canceled those meet and greets and then wouldn't give them their money back!

Just saying…
