Tony Bennett Calls For Legalization Of Drugs Just Hours After Whitney Died

Wait, what?

Did we hear that right?

During his performance at the Clive Davis pre-Grammy party, Tony Bennett made an interesting comment to party-goers just hours after Whitney Houston died.

He told the crowd:

"First it was Michael Jackson, then there was Amy Winehouse, and now the magnificent Whitney Houston.

I'd like to have every gentleman and lady in this room commit themselves to get on government to legalize drugs. Let's legalize drugs like they did in Amsterdam. No one's hiding or sneaking around corners to get it. They go to a doctor to get it, [not] gangsters that just sell it under the table."

Is he talking about ALL drugs here? Just pot? What does he mean?!?

Not sure if this was the most appropriate comment to make, but it is coming from Tony so can we expect anything else??

Check out his speech above.

Romania To Legalize Euthanizing Thousands Of Stray Dogs

romanian-strays-euthanize.jpg

Romanian lawmakers voted to make it legal to euthanize the tens of thousands of stray dogs they have all over the country.

The strays live amongst the people, crossing streets, sleeping on sidewalks and even riding on buses.

Even though most dogs are trying to just get by, same as the people, people have been killed in the past by packs of strays but it's extremely rare.

Animal groups have been calling for sterilization funding it seems the authorities think it'll be easier to just kill the dogs.

An animal rights activist said:

"It is a brutal law which will not resolve the problem of street dogs, but will line the pockets [of mayors from the ruling Democratic Liberal Party.]"

Many strays are tagged with collars, showing they've been sterilized, but they are still susceptible to being picked up, thrown in a shelter for 30 days, then euthanized.

So awful.

All those poor doggies. Let's hope Romania has a lot of wanna be dog parents.

Texas Legalizes Airborne Hog Hunting And "Noodling"

Two new laws in Texas are about to go into effect, legalizing the hunting of feral hogs from helicopters and "noodling."

Noodling is the practice of catching catfish with one's bare hands. It's also known as "Hillbilly Hand Fishing." LOLz.

Hunting feral hogs from a helicopter seems unfair to the hogs, though it does help thin the growing population of the large (and sometimes deadly) oinkers. Doesn't it?

Check out the above video to learn more.

Mayor Bloomberg Lobbies Republican New York Senators To Vote 'Yes' On Same-Sex Marriage

Do The Right Thing

In the wake of the New York Assembly passing a bill that would legalize same-sex marriage in the state, New York City's Mayor Michael Bloomberg paid a visit to Albany to lobby for a crucial tie-break vote on same-sex marriage on Thursday.

Although 31 senators have openly said they support the bill, there needs to be 32 votes of the 62 senators voting to pass the historic law.

The NYC mayor met behind closed doors at a gathering of Senate Republicans in the capital and urged them to view same-sex nuptials as a matter of individual liberty.

Unfortunately, he left without securing any commitments from senators to vote "yes" on equality, but it's the thought that counts!

Thanks, Bloomie!

The mayor said he has been specifically pressing Senators John Flanagan of Long Island, Mark Grisanti of Buffalo and Andrew Lanza of Staten Island to consider voting for same-sex marriage. We don't want to get our hopes up, but sources say two of them have suggested there is a good chance they will vote yes!

Considering he is one of the party's BIGGEST financial supporters, we're sure SOMEONE listened to what he had to say.

When asked for a comment, he

Gov. Andrew Cuomo Pushes Gay Marriage Campaign In NY

We can DO this!

Governor Andrew Cuomo began a campaign this week to legalize gay marriage in New York.

He's planning on using a strategy that will go on a much different path than the similar bill, which failed in the state two years ago.

Attempting to avoid poor legislative and political planning, like the first time around, Cuomo has assembled a group of A-list political strategists and several gay rights groups to back his campaign.

A spokesman for the governor says:

"This is an important issue for the administration, and the governor is committed to working with New Yorkers to get the marriage equality legislation passed."

Cuomo has made this campaign his "mission" and "feels this is part of where New York should be — at the forefront."

Ross Levi of the Empire State Pride Agenda adds:

"We are going to garner all the resources we can. A strong united community working together is going to be a great asset in accomplishing our goal."

We are proud of Andrew Cuomo's efforts to legalize gay marriage in New York. Good luck to you and all your supporters. We're rooting for you.
