Cameron Crowe's new documentary, The Union, which chronicles the making of the collaborative album of the same name by Elton John and Leon Russell, has been picked up by HBO and will be premiere on January 2012!
Elton says:
"I’m a great fan of HBO and their extraordinary programming, so I’m particularly thrilled that they will be airing 'The Union.'"
We're particularly thrilled that we'll get to see this!

Elton John has reportedly signed on to host and perform as musical guest - with Leon Russell - on an upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live!
Set to air April 2nd, the singer revealed his first return to the sketch comedy show's stage since 1982 during his Oscar-viewing party last night!
Epic! This is going to be so effing rad!

Very impressive, Mr. Brooks!
On June 16, Garth Brooks will be honored by being "one of five acts" to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Other songwriters to be immortalized this June include Leon Russell, Allen Toussaint, John Bettis, and Billy Steinberg & Tom Kelly.
Congrats, Garth!
