CBS Prez Denies Neil Patrick Harris Was Ever Offered David Letterman’s Job! Wait…You Callin’ NPH A Liar?!

neil patrick harris close up edit

David Letterman is FOR SURE retiring in 2015 and Stephen Colbert is FOR SURE taking over for him on The Late Show.

But there has been a lot of talk over what happened leading up to that announcement and whether or not Mr. Colbert was CBS’s first choice for a permanent late night replacement host!

Like, maybe they wanted Neil Patrick Harris instead?

Those rumors started when NPH went on Howard Stern on Wednesday morning and spilled that he had a sushi lunch with Eye Network CEO Les Moonves about the possibility of taking over at 11:30 BEFORE Colbert got named as Letterman’s successor!

But Moonves is telling a different side of that story today, suggesting Neil wasn’t as big a frontrunner as he might have thought!

New Dexter Sneak Peek Shows Deb Vs. Dex In The FINAL Season!

Les Moonves already spilled the beans on this one, but now Showtime is finally making it official: Season 8 will be Dexter's LAST season!

Luckily, we've already prepared ourselves emotionally for the imminent finale and the bad "news" comes with a bit of a silver lining!

In the latest sneak peek for Dexter, we get a full 2 MINUTE clip from a brand spankin' new episode! And is it just us, or does Deb look a little tense??

Dexter finds his sis gettin' her drink on at a mini mart and it becomes pretty obvious that the two of them haven't spoken much since the INSANE ending of last season! But Deb makes it very clear that not only does she not want to talk to her brother, she flat out HATES him!

Ch-ch-check out the tense sneak peek (above)!

Yikes!! We don't like the sound of that!

We've been wondering how things were going to play out between Deb and Dex in this final season, and from the looks of it, it ain't gonna be pretty!

So which sibling will come out on top? We'll just have to wait until June 30 to find out!

Les Moonves Must Not Be Watching The Same Olympic Coverage We Are

Moonves NBC

Les Moonves says NBC is doing a "great job" covering the Olympics.

He must have some sort of super secret access to a likewise super secret version of the Olympic coverage where nothing is spoiled and they're not interrupting important events with pre-taped interviews?

Wow! How do we get that?!

Sounds like damage control to us, but whatevs!

There's been quite a bit of speculation regarding why Holly Robinson Peete and Leah Remini were dropped from The Talk panel after its first season, with rumors that Julie Chen, who is married to CBS CEO Les Moonves, orchestrated the axing, but CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler has finally spoken out on the issue, and attributes it all to growing pains!

Media Moguls' Salaries Going Up Once Again…

media moguls recent stats

Curious to hear which media moguls made mad money in the past couple of years?

Here are some recent yearly total compensation stats from the highest paid moguls in the entertainment industry:

-Disney's Bob Iger earned $28 million total in 2010

-Viacom's Philippe Dauman earned $84.5 million total in 2010

-CBS' Les Moonves earned $43.2 million in 2009

-News Corp's Rupert Murdoch earned $22.7 million in 2010

Certainly, there are some moguls who have taken paycuts for the sake of their companies, but the big guys here seem to be doing quite well for themselves…especially Philippe!

$84.5 million?!?!?!? It's good to be the President/CEO of Viacom!

What do U think of these salaries? Do U think these media moguls are getting paid what they deserve?

CNN Wants Katie Couric!

cnn wants katie couric to join their network

CNN really wants you, Katie Couric, and it looks like they're willing to make the effort to steal you away from CBS and win you over!

Jeff Bewkes, the CEO of CNN's parent company Time Warner has said that CNN has the money "to pay for some of the biggest talent in TV news…"

Here's what the head of CBS, Les Moonves, had to say about it:

"The Katie Couric deal will be the last big deal of that kind ever done. Those days are over."

More from Moonves:

"People are getting the news elsewhere. When there were only three networks, you did have that public service component, where we were informing America. Now, there is nothing that Katie Couric is saying that everybody doesn't know already."

CNN's Bewkes doesn't seem to be on the same wavelength. When asked if he's putting a cap on salaries for talent, here's what he had to say:

"Absolutely not. Let the word go out."

Should be inneresting to say how this plays out.

We're thinking we'll be seeing Couric on CNN, sooner than later.

Do U think Katie Couric will make the move to CNN?
