Marking her first late-night appearance as first lady, MObama plans on paying Jay Leno a lil visit soon!!

On Tuesday, January 31, Michelle Obama will appear on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno for her first time since before hubby Barack was elected president.

The first lady plans on discussing her Let's Move children's health campaign and hopefully some juice!

Goodness. She is just so fierce.

First Lady Michelle Obama has been tirelessly promoting healthy eating habits in the country's youth since her time began at the White House, and now she plans to write a book about the kitchen garden she started there!

The as-yet-untitled publication is due out in April of 2012 from the Crown publishing group, and will shed some light on the first edible garden on the White House's South Lawn since Eleanor Roosevelt's WWII 'victory garden.' It will also include some of the Obama family's favorite healthy recipes!

Lovely! A perfect companion to the "Let's Move!" campaign!

Michelle Obama has been an incredible advocate for living a healthy life, especially for kids.

The First Lady is expected to announce her new initiative to put 5,000 salad bars in school cafeterias across the country today.

Grist.com posted:

“First Lady Michelle Obama is expected to announce on Monday a major new initiative that would place up to 5,000 salad bars in public schools nationwide, despite uncertainties over how local health inspectors might treat those salad bars and USDA nutrition-tracking rules that could prove a major impediment.”

This program is a part of Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign — a national public awareness campaign to help end childhood obesity by helping parents make better food choices, serving healthier food in school, making healthy food more available and affordable, and encouraging children to exercise more.

First Lady Michelle Obama extended a rare invitation to a group of local 5th graders to participate in the annual White House Kitchen Garden Fall Harvest this week.

Michelle spent a festive afternoon picking pumpkins and promoting better eating habits as part of her Let's Move campaign to reduce childhood obesity.

We think this is great! Way to spread the word about fitness, Disney!

Michelle Obama and Nick Jonas are teaming up to launch Disney Magic of Healthy Living, a nutrition initiative to complement Michelle's own nutrition campaign, Let's Move.

Other Disney stars will help spread the word through involvement in PSAs with Michelle and Nick.

Here's what Michelle had to say about this project in a press release:

"I am thrilled to join Disney's 'Magic of Healthy Living' effort and support the work these young people are doing to reach out to their peers and communicate this powerful message."

More from Michelle:

"I hope through programs like the 'Magic of Healthy Living,' young people are inspired to take control of their own health, fitness and nutrition and engage their families, schools and communities to do the same."

It's no secret that Michelle Obama is an advocate of eating vegetables and exercise, and in the September issue of Ladies' Home Journal she continues her mission to get America healthy.

The First Lady explains to the mag her new nutritional program Let's Move, saying:

"The overall message of Let's Move is balance. Do we have a vegetable on the plate? Have we incorporated fruit? What's the portion size? Portion sizes have gotten out of control."

But she still believes in the occasional cheat day. MObama adds:

"What is life without the things you love to eat? For me, it's pie. So what I tell my girls is, 'Treats are special'. They're not something you have every day."

Good advice Mrs. O!
