Billy Joel is a legend, and can write a mean pop song — so why hasn't he really written anything since 1993?

Billy says it's not that he hasn't written anything, just that he's written things that don't really have lyrics! He's been writing constantly, just music that isn't considered pop! Here's what he said:

'I never stopped writing music. I’m still writing music — piano pieces, orchestral music, dramatic pieces — but they could become songs. Some of them are like hymns that I just don’t have words for, but I might.

I wanted something more abstract, I wanted to write something other than the three-minute pop tune even though that’s an art form unto itself. Gershwin was incredible, Cole Porter was incredible, Richard Rodgers, great stuff, Hoagy Carmichael and John Lennon, the three-minute symphony. For me, it was a box. I want to get out of the box. I never liked being put in a box.'

Wow! We wish we could hear even his most unusual stuff — especially the stuff that was coming out of him while he was pretty deep in the bottle, so we could compare it to what he's writing now… even though he is NOT alcohol free!

Still high off her standing ovation while accepting a Peabody Award on the eight-month anniversary of her bone marrow transplant, Robin Roberts has just announced that she's releasing a memoir next year!

And we aren't talking at the END of next year… we're talking SPRING 2014!

It's true! She has sealed a deal with Grand Central Publishing to release a memoir in spring 2014, and you bet your asses she'll be talking about how it feels to have gone through the ridiculous amounts of health trouble she's been through — and to remain victorious!

Robert De Niro was out getting some fresh air, slapping his balls around like he usually does — mainly at another unidentified person!

LOLz, we mean TENNIS balls!

It'd be a much different story if Robert had been seen slapping his shame grapes at some poor person out in public! That'd be awful!

Nope, these were just regular old tennis balls — yellow and bouncy! We're happy to see him being out and so active, even at his age!

You gotta stay fit if you want to be in the game as long as Robert! That's for sure! Ha!

Thank GOODNESS this woman was there and knew what to do! How scary would this be???

Maureen Renaghan was just a spectator in the stands at a little league game on Saturday, when she saw one of the players collapse on the field. She jumped into action as fast as she could - and his breathing had stopped for close to a minute!

She saved Ian McGreevey's life!

Maureen was there because her husband was coaching the opposing team. When she saw Ian collapse after being hit in the chest with the ball while preparing to steal third, she didn't hesitate to go help. Here's what she said:

Jackie Bonasera was drying her hair in an upstairs bedroom of her Long Island, New York home.

Suddenly, she heard her pit bull barking, going crazy downstairs.

Her dog isn't much of a barker so when she went to go see what was wrong, she found that her house was on fire!!

She quickly was able to escape the house, but once outside, she realized her dog was still inside the home.

So she went back in to save the life of the dog that saved hers!

She believes that if her dog hadn't alerted her to the fire, she would have ended up trapped upstairs as her house burnt around her.

Thank goodness her dog saved her life!

See? Pit bulls aren't bad at all! They can even save lives.
