This is so heartbreaking.
According to reports, a man has confessed to fatally shooting a 4-year-old girl during a road-rage incident on an Albuquerque highway on Tuesday afternoon.
Lilly Garcia was with her father and 7-year-old brother in their red Dodge truck when another vehicle engaged her father in a fit of road rage.
The driver in the other car was Tony Torrez, who pulled up next to them and began shooting into the vehicle on the westbound Interstate 40.
Lilly was shot in the head and later died at the University of New Mexico Hospital.
Andy Garcia, Lilly's father, said of his daughter:
"She was so proud to tell people she just turned 4. She just started school two days ago. She was very bright and very smart."
Police arrested the 32-year-old Torrez on Wednesday after multiple tips let them to the suspect. He has since allegedly confessed and is being charged with murder.
This is such a tragedy. Our hearts go out to Lilly's family at this devastating time.
