Then reports came out of Rogue One that half the damn movie had to be reshot with a different director, leaving a bit of a disjointed mess. While some were happy to get their fan-service, we found the whole thing as lifeless as Grand Moff Tarkin's CG eyes.

Then Phil Lord and Chris Miller get fired several weeks into filming on the Han Solo spinoff. Now it's been announced officially by Lucasfilm that Episode IX director Colin Trevorrow is gone:

This is such good news to hear — and so smart of Lucasfilm to address it publicly.

After lots of rumors swirled around fan sites and social media this week, Lucasfilm has issued a relatively rare statement concerning the future of Carrie Fisher's Star Wars character after the actresses' death late last year.

In a statement posted yesterday to StarWars.com, Lucasfilm let everybody know that out of respect for Fisher's legendary work and the meaning she holds in the hearts of fans, her character will not be digitally re-created — at least, for now — in a future Star Wars franchise.

Neil Hanvey's dying wish came true.

On Saturday, the terminally ill Star Wars fan got an advance screening of the film franchise's upcoming release, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Tragically, Neil passed away on Monday at 36 years old, after losing his battle with cancer.

But, before his death, hospice staff had organized a social media campaign to get Mr. Hanvey that advanced viewing. Last week, Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker in the famed franchise, saw the campaign, and took to Twitter to support the effort, retweeting this post (below):

And, Rogue One director Gareth Edwards also heard about the man's wish, and sent over a special preview version of the film, months before its scheduled December release.

After the Saturday screening, the hospice issued a statement about the heartwarming gesture, and revealed the filmmaker did "all he could" to grant Neil's request:

His dying wish has been granted.

Daniel Fleetwood is a huge Star Wars fan. Sadly, he is also terminally ill.

But thanks to J.J. Abrams, his final wish has come true. The 32-year-old has a rare form of cancer, and was upset that he might not "make it" to see The Force Awakens when it hits theaters on December 18.

The ailing fan was told back in July that he only had two months to live.

Daniel, who had loved the film franchise since he was a child, is currently in hospice care, and his loved ones had recently started a social media campaign urging Disney and LucasFilms to allow him to watch the highly-anticipated movie early.

And on Thursday, the execs granted their request.
