Airplanes…With Hayley Williams And B.o.B. Lupe Fiasco?!

Wow! It's crazy how much this changes the complete tone of the song!

Apparently, long before B.o.B. recorded his now-hit track, Airplanes, with Hayley Williams of Paramore and Eminem, his labelmate, Lupe Fiasco, was offered the song, and even recorded his own verses before ultimately passing on it!

Luckily, his version has leaked, and you can listen to it (above)!

Inneresting! There's obviously a lot more energy on the B.o.B. version…but there's something about the mood of this one, a sadness that keeps us hitting the re-play button over and over again!

It would been very cool to hear a finalized version of this on Lasers!

What do U think?? Which version do U prefer??

Adele Reclaims Throne At The Top Of The Billboard Album Charts!

Of course she is! She is unstoppable!

After a small break, our beloved Goddess Adele is back at the top of the Billboard 200 albums chart!

According to the Nielsen Soundscan, the singer's new album, 21, fell to the number two spot last week in lieu of the new Lupe Fiasco LP, Lasers, but she has now knocked him down to number three spot, marking her third non-consecutive week as the most in-demand, selling 98,000!

Amazing! This has seriously become the little album that could!

Congratulations, gurl!

Lupe Fiasco Laments Further About Music Industry

Filed under: Music MinuteUsherSad SadJustin Bieber

lupe fiasco laments about music industry

Earlier this week, Lupe Fiasco went on the record and talked negatively about his new album and the music industry, without seeming to care AT ALL about how his record label might react.

In what appears to be another moment of despair, Lupe has opened up further about his lack of enthusiasm for the music industry, despite the fact that his new album was JUST released.

Here's what he had to lament say about the music industry:

"To be blunt, I don't really give a [crap]. I've grown very distant from the business, very numb to it…I don't really care about the success anymore. I don't really care about the fame. Three, four years later, I look at my bank account statements, and I haven't made any money with my record label. You start to think a little bit differently about your motivations and why you're doing what you're doing."

More from Lupe on the music industry's lack of creativity:

"I’m guilty of it, too. Hip-hop today — talking solely about the commercial space — it’s the same producers, sound, over and over again. The artist with that particularly poppy song is given the first look as opposed to that ethereal, weird artist with the brand-new music."

"The person who wins Best New Artist is this really abstract left bass player, [b]ecause it’s about who’s making music, who’s making something different. Justin Bieber sounds just like everybody else, to be honest. He’s the homie; he’s dope. But he’s no different than Sean Kingston, Usher."

We certainly agree that creativity is important, and we're sure there's room for improvement, but we don't think complaining like this is the most productive way to address the issue.

…Plus, you're certainly not making any new friends in the industry by speaking like this, Lupe.

Just sayin'!

Lupe Fiasco Talks New Album, B.O.B. And Suicidal Thoughts

lupe fiasco talks bob new album and suicidal thoughts

Looks like Lupe Fiasco's got A LOT on his mind that he wants to share with the world before his new album Lasers is released.

Here's Lupe on his extreme reaction to B.o.B. getting all the recognition for Nothing On You, a song he originally recorded:

"That was the tipping point. It was less about the bruised ego but more the audacity of it. It was mentally destructive. I say it with a certain laissez-faire now because I’m past it, but back then, hearin’ that s**t, it f**ked me up. I was super-depressed, lightly suicidal, at moments medium suicidal – and if not suicidal, willing to just walk away from it all completely.”

And here's Lupe's less-than-positive thoughts on his new album:

“I hate this album. I don’t hate the music, but I hate the process. When I look at it, I don’t see song titles and artwork, I see the fight – I see the emotions, the blood, sweat and tears. There are a couple of songs on there that I love; but Lasers is a little bit of what you love, a little bit of what you like, and a lot of what you had to do."

We appreciate you opening up to us about all of this, but you realize this isn't going to help your label try and make your new single and album a hit, right?

It's a little bit distressing that you don't seem to care about this. Thanks for the honesty, but if you're so down about this album that you're willing to speak out against it, maybe there are bigger issues still at play.

MIGHT want to seek professional help, Lupe. The drama with B.o.B. is very unfortunate, but it's not worth contemplating suicide over.

Lupe Finally Gets A Release Date!

The protest is off!

After months of battling with his record label, Lupe Fiasco has finally got a release date for his long-awaited album Lasers!

The bad news is that we have to wait until next year! March 8, specifically. But, at least we'll get a taste of the new album, as the first single will drop October 26 via his website.

The rapper later posted a picture of himself on his Twitter giving the thumbs up sign with Atlantic Records exec Julie Greenwald along with the caption, "Victory."

Ha! Awesome! We guess it does pay off to stand up to your record label!

Travis Barker Dropping Solo Album

Filed under: Music MinutePharrellTravis BarkerSnoopEminemLil' WayneT.I.Drake

What do you get when you cross Travis Barker with Eminem, Lil Wayne, Drake, T.I., Pharrell Williams, Snoop Dogg, Lupe Fiasco, and Rick Ross?

The answer is Blink 182 alum Travis Barker’s new solo album, which is slated for release this October.

After surviving a plane crash that killed four others, Barker has recovered and recently collaborated on other artists' singles, but now he’s finally making his official return, and he’s coming back strong!

Should be inneresting to see Barker collaborating with A-list rap artists. The Eminem factor should definitely work out well for him.

How do U feel about Barker teaming up with Eminem and other rappers?
