So, if you thought we were doing a pretty good job at discovering species, we hope your definition of "good job" doesn't rely on "speed or scope."

Why? Because we've only found 1.9 million species.

That sounds like a lot, right? Well, not really when a new study is out saying there are 8.8 million species on the planet.

WOW!

"Of those species, 6.5 million would be on land and 2.2 million in the ocean, which is a priority for the scientists doing the work since they are part of the Census of Marine Life, an international group of scientists trying to record all the life in the ocean.

The research estimates that animals rule with 7.8 million species, followed by fungi with 611,000 and plants with just shy of 300,000 species."

Researchers should get on this, as it could take up to 500 years to complete the catalogue if those numbers are correct!

Vegans in space!

A rocket producer called SpaceX recently announced they're planing on flying people to Mars to make a human colony. We know what your thinking — What will they eat??

Okay, it's not the first thing that came to our mind either. But the people at PETA were all over it! They're petitioning that Mars should be an all-vegan planet!

The animal rights group sent out a press release saying:

“the Martian colony is an opportunity to make a kind civilization in which humans don’t exploit other beings. And since the animal agriculture industry is toxic to human health and to the environment, an all-vegan civilization would ensure that the new Martian citizens would have long and healthy futures.”

Hmm… that's IS something to think about.

Even if their dream of a vegan-friendly planet doesn't come true, we think it's awesome the PETA's goals don't end at home. Looks like they won't stop till the whole universe is rid of animal cruelty!

Flipper best call his agent! There's a new dolphin celebrity, and she's about to take over the big screen.

They call her Winter, and her life story is the focus of Dolphin Tale - a movie opening next month that stars Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd and Harry Connick Jr.

Why does she deserve all the attention? Well, aside from being your average super adorbz dolphin, Winter is the fist and only dolphin with a prosthetic tale!

The poor thing lost her tale in a blue crab trap when she was only 3-moths-old. She was taken to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium where she surprised a lot of people just by surviving. that when VP of prosthetics at Hanger Prosthetics and Orthotics Kevin Carroll, heard about the brave little dolphin and decided to design her a new tale. (What a sweetheart!)

This was over than five years ago, and since then, Winter's fame has spread far and wide and has helped the aquarium's attendance. But now that she's getting her own movie… well, there's no doubt it's gonna skyrocket her stardom!

Let's just hope it doesn't go to her head.

How does she keep getting cuter??

Betty White reunited with Beethoven the beluga whale, who she met last year at the Atlanta's Georgia Aquarium.

The two shared such a connection that White featured the whale in her new book, expected later this year. Bet loved the whale so much that she gave him his own chapter!!

White, who flew back to Atlanta for the reunion, said that she was thrilled to be able to get in the tank with Beethoven.

However, the veteran actress will not be getting up close and personal with one Sgt. Ray Lewis after declining his invitation to a military ball.

Earlier, we posted the above video from Sgt. Scott Moore, a U.S. Marine who so graciously asked his favorite celeb Mila Kunis to be his date at the upcoming Marine Corps. Ball in Greenville, North Carolina.

WELL, looks like word got back to Mz. Mila when she and Justin Timberlake were promoting their movie Friends With Benefits. When JT asked her, "Have you seen this? Have you heard about this? You need to do it for your country," Mila replied:

"I'll do it."

Ha! Mila, you just made this Marine a very happy soldier! So very cool of you! And good for you, St. Moore. You had a dream, aimed for the stars, and it all came true.

Sgt. Scott Moore has a question for you, Mila Kunis: Will you be his date to the Marine Corps. Ball in Greenville, North Carolina on November 18th?

The Marine, stationed in Musa Qala, Afghanistan, posted a video (above) asking the starlet to be his plus one at the upcoming ball. The guy even has a YouTube page dedicated the cause, called GoWithMeMila.

We think it's absolutely adorable. And come on, Mila, you have a few months to clear your calendar and attend the ball with Sgt. Moore. Do it for your country, Mila.
