Let the drama begin!

Despite receiving threats from Conde Nast, Italian designers have voted to keep their original dates of September 19-25 for Milan Fashion Week next year.

By not changing the dates, Milan will overlap with New York (September 13-20) and London (September 21-25), which means

Vogue Editors Promise To Ditch Milan If Fashion Week Schedule Is Changed

Oh the dramz!

Anna Wintour and the rest of the Vogue editors at Conde Nast are pissed about Italy's decision to have Milan Fashion Week start during New York Fashion Week and continue through London Fashion Week.

In fact the International chairman of Conde Nast fired off a letter to the Italian Chamber of Fashion that if they don't change it back to the original schedule, none of his editors will be attending.

Here's the back story that lead up to this threat: next year New York Fashion Week is starting on September 13th, which is a week later than normal due to Labor Day. The Italianos argue if Milan Fashion Week is pushed back designers won't have enough time to produce good shows, but that's where Conde Nast begs to differ.

Jonathan Newhouse wrote Anna & Co. like the schedule the way it is and are against any changes. He warns in his letter:

"They will not under any circumstances abandon the London or New York shows if the Milan shows are moved earlier…The best way to avoid having a problem is to maintain the schedule as it is now."

Mario Boselli, the head of the Italian Chamber of Fashion told WWD:

"We wouldn’t have reconsidered the show dates, but since the equilibrium has been ruptured, we are reflecting and rethinking the situation. Already we thought we were compromising and since New York has decided to set its schedule without consulting us, we are thinking in terms of what is best for us."

Me-ow!

Sounds to us like Vogue may have won the battle, but not the war…yet.

Plus-Size Fashion Show Gets Booted From Milan Fashion Week

ap08092005816_e.jpg

After 5 years of opening Milan Fashion Week, designer Elena Miroglio's plus-size clothing line Elena Miro was kicked off the official schedule.

Rude!

Mario Boselli, the head of the National Chamber of Italian Fashion, gave a bullshiz reason for why Miroglio got the boot:

"Some labels just weren't in line with what ready-to-wear week should be. We wanted to champion the values of creativity to reaffirm Milan's role in the world."

Riiight. They were in line for the last 5 years, but all of sudden they aren't anymore? Shady.

Despite the snub, Elena still held her show because she believes:

"Every kind of woman should be represented on the catwalk. This kind of soft woman likes to dress like everyone else."

Good for her!
