Donald Trump will have to host the New England Patriots without his old chum after all.

Because it turns out Tom Brady will NOT be accompanying his team on their Wednesday visit to the White House due to "personal family matters."

ESPN reporter Mike Reiss shared a statement from the star quarterback on Twitter, in which he explained why he had to skip out on the "honorary celebration."

He wrote:

"In light of some recent developments I am unable to attend today's ceremony, as I am attending to some personal family matters."

The athlete will most likely be staying in Boston with his mother Galynn, who only attended one game this season (the Super Bowl) due to her ongoing cancer battle.

So sad. Read his full statement (below):

Gabrielle Union Doesn't Want You To Forget About All These Other Athletes *Cough Tom Brady* Who Skipped Visiting The White House!

As tradition goes, the U.S. president always invites winning teams to the White House to honor their victories, celebrate their accomplishments, yaddah yaddah yaddah.

But sometimes, athletes take a stand and refuse to go to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. for various (usually political) reasons — GASP!

As we reported, Patriots players Devin McCourty and Martellus Bennett have recently spoken out about refusing to pay Donald Trump a visit following their Super Bowl victory on Sunday, and everyone seems to have an opinion about it.

But don't worry guys, Gabrielle Union is here to the rescue!

In fact, the actress is calling out people for questioning the athletes' right to do whatever the hell they want… and hey, remember when Tom Brady didn't accept Barack Obama's invitation either?

Patriots' Tight End Martellus Bennett Takes A Stand Against Trump & The White House Super Bowl Celebration!

Martellus Bennett

Wait, Martellus Bennett just became our favorite person.

In case you're unfamiliar, the 29-year-old athlete took home the Super Bowl trophy last night after the Patriots defeated the Falcons in overtime.

It. Was. Insane.

When speaking to press after the big game, which just so happened to be in his hometown of Houston, Bennett reiterated his sentiment that he would NOT visit the White House following his team's victory because he doesn't "support the person in it."

Oh, and not only that, but he totally doesn't care what New England team owner Robert Kraft thinks about it!

Sucks to suck, Donald Trump! Hope you and Tom Brady have fun!

Not only did Marty answer the political questions with class — he also spread a message of acceptance and inclusion (and his daughter Jett Rose totally stole the spotlight).
