As the country still struggles to understand and make sense of the monstrous, unspeakable Sandy Hook Elementary School school shooting that took the lives of 20 children and six adults in Newtown, Connecticut Friday morning, the father and extended family of suspected shooter, 20-year-old Adam Lanza, have broken their silence.
Peter Lanza said in a statement:
"Our family is grieving along with all those who have been affected by this enormous tragedy. No words can truly express how heartbroken we are. We are in a state of disbelief and trying to find whatever answers we can."
Meanwhile, the family of Nancy Lanza, who was also found killed at another location and divorced her husband in 2009, continued:
"The family of Nancy Lanza share the grief of a community and a nation as we struggle to comprehend the tremendous loss that we all share. Our hearts and prayers are with those who share in this loss. On behalf of Nancy’s mother and siblings we reach out to the community of Newtown and express our heartfelt sorrow for the incomprehensible and profound loss of innocence that has affected so many."
Both Peter and Adam's older brother, Ryan - who was originally misidentified as the man responsible - have both been questioned by the FBI but at this point, are not considered suspects.
While authorities have informed the public that their investigators have found "very good evidence … as to how, and more importantly, why, this occurred," no further details have been released.
However, according to Nancy Lanza's neighbor, Dan Holmes, the first victim was an avid gun collector who was not only proud to own and have weapons registered in her name, but in the months leading up to the tragic, pointless events of Friday, often brought her children to several firing ranges to teach them how to shoot.
Sadly, these were the weapons that ultimately took the lives of 26 individuals, all of whom have now been identified.
Take a moment and pray for their souls, as well as their friends, family, and loved ones still struggling to come to grips with the profound, unspeakable tragedy that will hang heavily in all our hearts for a long time to come…AFTER THE JUMP.

On May 5, 2014, all seven lawsuits filed against Cinemark for their alleged lack of proper security will go before U.S. District Judge R. Brook Jackson.
Aurora Century 16 was the site of James Holmes' brutal shooting spree during its infamous midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises.
Twelve died after James Holmes entered the theater from a back emergency-exit door, and 58 were left wounded.
The massacre, which shocked the nation and brought the issue of gun-control back to the water-cooler, angered many and arguably could have been prevented had proper security been in place, claims the lawsuits.
We can only hope for peace for the families and friends of the victims, and the fortunate ones who did make it out alive that night. Hopefully the judge will help see to it.

What in the world is going on??
Blaec Lammers has been accused of buying assault rifles and more than 400lbs of ammo for a brutal shooting plot similar to the Dark Knight Massacre.
Believed to have been targeting a showing of Breaking Dawn: Part 2 and a Wal-Mart, the 20-year-old Missouri man was red-flagged by his own mom.
Suspicious of his latest purchases, she called the police on Thursday and alerted them of the severely scary situation.
Though his original target was a Breaking Dawn: Part 2 screening this weekend (he had already bought tickets), he apparently had Wal-Mart as his second choice "because if he ran out of ammunition he would be able to break the glass where the ammunition is stored and get more."
In a probable-cause statement, he said he was a quiet loner with homicidal thoughts.
Thank goodness for mothers, everyone!! They are the angels of the world, and his was able to prevent who knows how many deaths!!
We can only hope and pray that nothing similar is attempted this weekend. Surely security is strict with the climate of the recent news. Or at least we would hope so!
Be safe, everyone!! Please!!
We can't believe it's already been two months since the chilling massacre that wreaked havoc on Aurora, Colorado and the nation.
58 were wounded and 12 were killed during the shooting spree that took place in a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises.
And on Friday, three of the surviving 58 sued Cinemark USA for failing to provide proper security in the movie theater.
According to them:
Ugh! Not another incident like this!
We are deeply saddened to hear that a gunman in Oak Creek, Wisconsin open fired in a Sikh temple on Sunday. Before being shot by police officers arriving on the scene, the unidentified 40-year-old white male killed six people and injured three with no apparent motive.
Both authorities and the victims are stunned by the "domestic terrorist-type incident." A member of the congregation told sources:
We're not sure whether James Holmes is actually legally insane or not, but he's trying REALLY hard to convince everyone in jail that he is.
Following his arrest at the scene of the shooting spree in Aurora, Colorado, he's been acting all sorts of strange. He has referred to himself as the Joker, couldn't concentrate in court, spit on guards and most recently, has claimed he doesn't remember a thing! As in, he has no recollection of killing 12 innocent people!
An employee at the Arapahoe County Detention Center told sources:
