We all remember the View-Master, right?
It's that big, red plastic thing that sorta looked like binoculars. You'd shove a circular cardboard reel into it, then click the orange switch on the side to advance through 3D photos.
It was pretty cool for a while and then it got old and then it just kinda disappeared.
But now, thanks to Google and Mattel, it's back and better than ever!! It's like a child's version of the Oculus Rift!
Basically, you insert your smartphone with the View-Master app on it, grab a View-Master "experience reel" and then you're off!
You can travel through a 360-degree world, looking in any direction, learning all about the cool location you're in.
Also, the reel isn't cardboard, and it's placed on a table top in front of the device, not in it. The reel is now more a place for "augmented reality navigational aids" to pop up. Technology!
