Will NYFW Be Forced To Relocate? New Yorkers File Suit Against The City For Hogging Park Space!

New Yorkers don't want the Lincoln Center to be used for fashion week anymore!

New Yorkers are PISSED that all the commercial events at the Lincoln Center, specifically the seemingly endless fashion weeks, are keeping them from playing frisbee and using their dogs to meet good-looking strangers at the Center's Damrosch Park!

In fact, residents and environmental activists are so STARK RAVING MAD that they've filed suit against the city and Lincoln Center for "limiting public access to Damrosch Park" and holding commercial events, including fashion week and the Big Apple Circus, for 10 months out of the year.

The plaintiffs also argue that the $32 million generated by the Lincoln Center from all of the events is NOT going back into the city like it's supposed to, but instead benefiting the Center itself.

In a statement, NYC Park Advocates, a nonprofit watchdog group, said:

After the lives of 20 elementary school children were taken by a sick man wielding automated assault weapons, it should be obvious that gun control laws (among a myriad of others) in this country are ineffective at best.

NYC's Mayor Bloomberg appeared on Meet the Press over the weekend and proposed a plan for gun control reform (above).

During his proposal, the Mayor states:

Mayor Bloomberg Speaks On Empire State Building Shooting

The shots at the Empire State Building were heard around 9am.

Two people were found dead (including the suspected shooter, 56-year-old Jeffrey Johnson), and there have been at least 8 reported to be wounded.

Six are currently in non-life-threatening condition at Bellevue Hospital.

At 11am, Mayor Bloomberg held a press conference to address the tragedy that just took place in his beloved city.

An avid supporter of gun control, Bloomberg says:

"Earlier this morning, a man who had been fired from his job about a year ago began shooting. He killed one person, at least nine shot. Some may have been accidentally shot by the police.

I ask everyone to keep victims in their thoughts. This is a terrible tragedy, and it would be no doubt more tragic without the heroic acts of the policemen. Every day, the police put their lives on the line to save lives bravely.

NYC is the safest big city in the country, but we are not immune to the national problem of gun violence. This is the beginning of an investigation. Two are dead — the perpetrator and his victim. He does not appear to have a criminal record [at this time]. We're just starting this investigation."

This will no doubt encourage conversations regarding gun control. With this incident and the Dark Knight Massacre happening with so little time in between, we're sure many more will now listen to the stance Bloomberg takes on the issue.

Mayor Bloomberg Urges Obama & Romney To Speak On Gun Control

Filed under: Legal MattersPolitikBarack ObamaSad SadPerezTV

After the horrific Dark Knight killings where James Holmes shot 12 dead and injured 59 using a LEGALLY purchased AR-15 assault rifle, Remmington 12-guage shotgun and 2 40-caliber glock handguns, the nation-wide debate on gun control has re-ignited with a ferverence.

NYC Mayor Bloomberg, who is renowned for enforcing strict gun control laws, appeared on CBS' Face The Nation and called upon President Obama and Gov. Romney to publicly provide concrete plans of action in regards to gun control, rather than the generic, vague statements they've recently been issuing.

Check out Bloomberg's commendable request (above).

People may kill people, but it's a hell of a lot harder to kill people - especially a whole bunch of people - without a gun!

Just saying.

Mayor Bloomberg Defends Beyonce And NYC Hospital

mayor-bloomberg-defends-beyonce-and-hospital.jpg

Well, here's a twist on things.

When New York's Mayor Bloomberg was asked about his thoughts on Lenox Hill Hospital giving Beyonce and her newborn special treatment, he actually defended the hospital's action with an interesting spin.

With the reportedly $1.2-1.3 million that was paid to the hospital for sanctioning off an entire wing for Bey and Co., the mayor implied that the money given to Lenox Hill could actually help future patients.

He said at a press conference:

"Let's step back a little bit here. If [the hospital] got paid a lot of money and it let them provide services to other people who don't have insurance or can't afford it, I'm not so sure it's a bad thing. Full-paying patients are very valuable to hospitals in this day and age.

…it's been an awful long time since I've been in a maternity ward. I don't think I'm the person that can tell you what goes on in this day and age. I don't think you should keep people from seeing their babies, or whatever, but have different services for people are full-paying patients. It's easy to go and criticize, but somebody's got to pay."

In a recent statement, the hospital denied the rumors that they gave A-list treatment to the Carter family, but the fact is, they DID get paid a substantial amount. And hey, if it's helping out moms who need medical care, then who are we to judge?

Pamela Anderson Joins The Call To Ban Carriage Horses

paela-anderson-saves-horse.jpg

After the collapse of TWO New York City carriage horses in the past two weeks, Pamela Anderson has joined the call for a ban on horse-drawn carriages.

She's joining other celebs, like Lea Michele, in joining a petition to replace the horse-drawn carriages with eco-friendly classic cars.

She wrote on her Facebook page:

"For the second time in less than two weeks, a carriage horse has collapsed on a Manhattan street. Horses do not belong in a congested, urban setting where they are constantly breathing exhaust and sharing the streets with cars, buses and taxis."

She urged all her fans to sign the petition so that these poor horses can be rescued from the streets.

Let's hope that New York's Mayor Bloomberg decides to take action before any more harm comes to those overworked animals.
