Lea Michele

As we previously mentioned, a carriage horse dropped dead in the middle of the street in New York city.

Lea Michele, a huge animal lover, horse lover and PETA activist, was devastated, especially after just doing a PSA for PETA about the plight of carriage horses.

So she wrote a letter to NYC's Mayor Bloomberg.

We know this must be a momentous, exciting day for so many - but a few of you guys might want to wait a few days!

Either that or get those fingers crossed NOW! LOLz!

This Sunday, July 24th, will be the first day that same-sex marriage will be legal in New York City, and apparently, there are so many couples that have applied for the union on that day - over 2,661 online marriage applications - that the city has been forced to institute a lottery system to select the 764 couples it can feasibly do that day!

bloomberg to officiate gay wedding

Bloomberg, you are on a roll!

Yesterday, we were SO PLEASED to announce that NYC Mayor Bloomberg would be opening city offices on Sunday July 24 so that gay couples could get married on the day that legalization of gay marriage takes effect.

Now, in another sweet and totally supportive move by Bloomberg, the NYC Mayor has offered to officiate his chief policy adviser John Feinblatt's marriage to his longtime partner/city's commissioner for consumer affairs Jonathan Mintz.

Here's what Mintz had to say about it when Feinblatt proposed Bloomberg's idea:

Mayor Bloomberg Is NOT Happy With Diddy Receiving Police Escort Through Manhattan!

Filed under: Icky Icky PooCelebrity FeudsPolitikDiddy

Uh-oh. Somebody is going to be in biiig trouble!

After Diddy's concert in Manhattan on Friday night, he apparently had attempted to helicopter to New Jersey to make a $75,000 club appearance, but ultimately was grounded by the FAA when the request wasn't cleared in time, and instead was provided with a police escort to get him to where he needed to go!

Unfortunately for him, this should have never happened, as police are not allowed to escort private citizens, and even Mayor Bloomberg is now speaking out as to why the rapper received special treatment!

A source explains:

"Diddy heard his helicopter had not been cleared for landing, and said he wouldn't go to Jersey if he couldn't get there on time. His team spoke to the police, and he was driven — like a head of state — in his Bentley with three SUVs in a convoy, with two police cars in front, lights flashing, and another behind."

However, the Mayor claims that the only way this would have been allowed is if there were a "security issue," and explains:

"The bottom line is the police department should treat everybody exactly the same. If you don't get a police escort, P. Diddy shouldn't. I would assume there was no reason for [the police escort], but I just don't know."

We have a feeling that he's very curious to find out what exactly happened, and it's not going to be pretty!

Seriously - a helicopter OR a police escort? Who the eff does he think he is?!

Either way, we doubt Bloomberg's going to let something like this happen again for quite some time, so we hope Diddy makes proper arrangements in advance from now on to get where he needs to go!

NYC Funds Refunded To LGBT Youth Center

NYC Mayor Bloomberg made $35 million in cuts recently and that money was taken away from several homeless youth organizations including the Ali Forney Center, which specifically caters to LGBT youth.

Thanks to several organizations around the country, in addition to Lew Fidler, Speaker Christine Quinn and the New York City Council, the funds have been restored!

Carl Siciliano, Executive Director of the Ali Forney Center, said:

"This news comes just a few days after Mayor Bloomberg released what many saw as a hypocritical video message to LGBT teens telling them that 'it gets better.'

These cuts would absolutely not have been restored were it not for the hundreds who have stood up and told their story. So, congratulations to all of you who have stood up and spoken up about who you are. This is a victory for all of us."

Amazing! Equality for all!
