Meat Production And Consumption Goes Down Globally!

pig-gest-creat-eop-ed__opt.jpg

Worldwide meat production and consumption are still generally on the rise…but drought and disease in 2011 have really slowed it down.

The big drought in the midwest has really slowed down growth, but so has the rising cost of livestock feed.

There are all sorts of figures going up and down at the same time, but in general, things aren't all that great.

Unless you're a vegetarian.

Crazy Animal Activist Tries To Hire Hit Man To Whack Fur Wearing Child

crazy-lady-hit-man-fur.jpg

Meredith Lowell, 27, from Cleveland Heights, Ohio, is being held by federal authorities after soliciting the services of a hit man.

Was it to take out a cheating husband? Or maybe to get revenge on someone who greatly wronged her in the past?

Nope!

She is charged with soliciting a hit man to fatally shoot or slit the throat of a random fur-wearer.

The FBI was notified back when she used an alias to create a Facebook page offering $830 to $850 for the hit.

That's an odd amount of money and a pretty low sum to get someone to MURDER someone for you.

The FBI had an employee posing as a potential hit man correspond with her via email where she offered to pay him $730 in jewelry or cash for the killing of a victim of at least 12-years-old but "preferably 14 years old or older."

WHAT??!

Oh and also the victim should be killed outside a library near a playground in her hometown.

This is disgusting.

She wrote in an email:

"You need to bring a gun that has a silencer on it and that can be easily concealed in your pants pocket or coat.

… If you do not want to risk the possibility of getting caught with a gun before the job, bring a sharp knife that is (at least) 4 inches long, it should be sharp enough to stab someone and/or slit their throat to kill them. I want the person to be dead in less than 2 minutes."

She said that she wanted to be on site so she could distribute "papers" afterwards so she could bring attention to her beliefs.

She hoped to be arrested so she could be taken away from her home where she lives with her parents and brother who eat meat and eggs and wear leather and fur.

We are SOOOO glad that they caught this crazy lady before she had a child MURDERED!

Way to go, FBI!

Amazon.com No Longer Illegally Selling Whale Meat!!

whale-breaching-sea1.jpg

As we previously mentioned, Amazon.com was selling illegal whale meat through it's website, Amazon.jp.

Well due to the backlash from consumers as soon as the story broke, Amazon has now taken down all whale meat related products from the site.

These products were illegal because they came from endangered fin whales and some of the meat came from dolphins who were killed in the horrible Taiji dolphin hunt (the one that was the subject of The Cove.)

It's so amazing what the power of people and social media can do to make real change in the world.

All it took was a petition, the Humane Society International's request for people to contact Amazon's CEO Jeff Bezos and a couple thousand concerned people.

Way to go everyone!!

Amazon.com Illegally Sells Whale Meat

whale-breaching-sea.jpg

Animal rights organizations have brought to light 147 illegal items being sold on Amazon.com right now.

Of those 147, some items were whale curry, stew, bacon and hamburger, all made from whale meat.

Ever since the international ban on whale hunting in 1982, selling whale meat should be impossible.

The Humane Society International (HSI) launched a campaign to try and get Amazon to remove all the whale products from its website.

The HSI wrote:

"Japan continues to undermine international laws by hunting whales and trading in whale meat.

These great whale species are afforded legal protection by the International Whaling Commission (IWC) and and the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES); yet Amazon.com, through its wholly owned subsidiary Amazon.jp in Japan, is actively involved in the sale of hundreds of whale, dolphin and porpoise products."

So not only is it wrong to eat whale products, it's also dangerous because of the high mercury levels in whale meat.

The HSI continued:

"As Amazon.com Inc. profits from Amazon.jp’s sale of whale products, it is responsible not only for facilitating the sale of products from endangered and protected species, but also for allowing the sale of contaminated food products which pose a potential health threat to the people consuming them."

This really needs to stop.

You can send a pre-written letter to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos HERE.

You can also add your name to the petition HERE.

Let's hope Amazon.com takes care of this immediately.
