We're glad that there is more transparency in the food industry than ever before.
So much so that people found out about "pink slime" and complained so much that its producer is going out of business.
Food activists rallied to get the ammonia-treated beef filler banned and now AFA Foods (the ground beef processor) is bankrupt.
This could actually be a problem.
How will this affect the meat market?
A rep from the National Meat Association said:
"This is certainly going to have an economic impact on the industry."
That means everyone from cattle ranchers to meat processors will be affected. Which means thousands of jobs could be in danger.
What's crazy is AFA Foods made almost $1 BILLION last year.
And now they're bankrupt.
There are those still fighting for "pink slime," like Iowa's Governor.
But we're sure it's too far gone at this point.
We're sorry for the loss of jobs but we are glad people won't be eating "pink slime" anymore.
