When the UK refuses to perform surgery on you due to risk, what do you do? You only have 8 weeks to live because you've been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, which only has a 3.6% survival rate. Seriously, what do you do?
YOU DON'T GIVE UP.
Oh, and you head to Germany to get the surgery done at a private facility! Then, no matter how drastic the operation, you look forward to the rest of your life because it worked!
Dr. Michael Barsby did ALL of that, after initially being told he had eight weeks to live after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. His country told him the operation would not be carried out because of the risks involved.
Luckily, his prognosis improved to a 50 per cent chance of surviving a year once he started chemotherapy, and now 11 months on, he is cancer-free after a private operation in Germany — which removed his pancreas, along with his spleen, gall bladder and part of his stomach. Here's what he said:
We're so glad Amanda Bynes is getting the help she needs. And it sounds like it couldn't have come soon enough!
Amanda was recently moved to UCLA's psychiatric unit, where doctors are doing everything they can to regulate her schizophrenia symptoms.
But it isn't easy. An inside source says Amanda has a long way yet to go. The source says:
Amanda Bynes and her lawyer are convinced she's capable of caring for herself outside the walls of her psych ward, but unfortunately the judge they just stood before does NOT agree!
The All That star was placed on a 5150 hold in a psychiatric hospital over a week ago, but she still hasn't convinced those in charge that she's fit for freedom!
Today her lawyer argued that the doctors have no legal right to keep her detained for two weeks — as previously mandated by the judge — but it apparently didn't do much good!
Though hospital folk agree she's doing remarkably better on a steady diet of prescription meds, they want to keep her under their care and continue to monitor her mental health.
Sources say signs point toward Amanda suffering from schizophrenia.
Poor Jeremy Renner must be an absolute wreck!!
His cute French Bulldoggy Hemi has gone missing!
Hemi is one of two French bulldogs that Jeremy got last year.
The pup went missing around El Lay's Runyon Canyon.
There's a $5,000 reward, no questions asked, for Hemi's return. The worst part is Hemi has a hip condition and needs medication! So every day counts!
We're so scared because there are so many coyotes in that area and Hemi is such a small pup… but we gotta remain positive!
There are so many people in that area that we're sure someone will find him!
Hemi is a neutered male French Bulldog, who is fawn/tan with black face. He's 1.5 yrs old, 25-pounds and has a collar, but no tag or microchip. He's also a friendly little guy so hopefully he finds his way home.
We feel so bad! We really hope Jeremy gets his dog back!
If you live in the area and spot Hemi, you should call the number on the flier: (310) 954-9126.
Let's get Hemi home!!

Whoa!!! This is HUGE!
Amanda is allegedly agreeing to stay under doctors care for the next week and let the medications prescribed to her run their course before stepping back in front of a judge and asking to be let free!
This development is HUMONGOUS because it basically means Amanda is finally consenting to treatment!!!
Yesterday, the judge decided she needed to spend two weeks under psychiatric supervision and by postponing her appeal for a week, she is basically agreeing that the medical intervention was for the best!!!
Dolly Parton MIGHT HAVE had a secret surgery to help prevent full-blown esophageal cancer, but the news is coming from the National Enquirer — so we should take it with a grain of salt until we hear more!
In the meantime, it's actually super interesting!
According to the source, Dolly allegedly recently underwent a secret surgery to implant a state-of-the-art device into her esophagus, which, even though it's experimental, was done in a bid to prevent her from getting esophageal cancer.
