Sorry, Jimmy Kimmel — This Year's Oscars Was The Lowest Rated In NINE YEARS!

no title

If only that Best Picture snafu happened at the beginning of the Oscars telecast!

Because despite an evening full of twists, Mean Tweets, and Matt Damon digs, the 89th Academy Awards didn't do so hot in the ratings department.

According to the early numbers from Nielsen, the nearly four-hour show averaged an overnight 22.4 rating in metered market results, making it the lowest rated Oscars in NINE years!

This year's show dipped 3% from when Chris Rock hosted in 2016, which saw a 23.4 rating — or roughly 34.43 million viewers.

Despite ranking as the longest in 10 years, Sunday's Jimmy Kimmel hosted ceremony surprisingly did not see a dip in viewership towards the end, but remained steady throughout the ABC broadcast.

Most people tuned in during the 9 o'clock EST hour, well before the now-infamous Best Picture mix-up that will undoubtedly go down in Oscar history.

However, 2017's ceremony was still 10 million viewers shy of those who tuned in to 2014's Ellen DeGeneres hosted show, which was the highest rated broadcast in the 21st century with

Jimmy Kimmel had some jokes at the 2017 Oscars. And only about half of them were at the expense of Matt Damon.

The late night host also dropped some hot takes on Meryl Streep, Mel Gibson, and of course, Donald Trump.

He even tweeted at the President live from the stage!

Jimmy Kimmel Opens The 2017 Oscars By Burying The Hatchet With Matt Damon & Giving 'Overrated' Meryl Streep A Standing Ovation! Watch!!

Jimmy Kimmel Opens The Oscars! by videosuploaded5566

Well that's a tough act to follow!!

After Justin Timberlake kicked off the Oscars with a performance of Can't Stop The Feeling, Jimmy Kimmel took the stage to take on his hosting duties!

After taking a dig at Mel Gibson, JK attempted to bury the hatchet with Matt Damon, but that didn't really go too well!

Then Jimmy turned his attention to Meryl Streep for her very "overrated" career! And if that wasn't enough, he asked if she was wearing an Ivanka Trump dress!

We're sure Donald Trump will have something to say about that before the night is over!!

Ch-ch-check out his hilarious opening (above)!

Wow!!!

Meryl Streep and Karl Lagerfeld have both released new statements in regard to their "feud" — or misunderstanding — regarding whether she would be paid to wear the designer's gown at the Oscars tonight.

Related: Are The Oscars Guilty Of Ageism?

In case you forgot, the feud grew this week when Lagerfeld accused Streep of "cheapness" in a report that she eventually chose a gown from another designer so that she could be paid to wear it.

Now, after a few days of simmering feud feelings after Lagerfeld's "cheapness" comment made Streep look, well, not great, both parties have released new statements updating their positions in the affair.

To Lagerfeld's credit, he apologized a bit in his statement, acknowledging he may have misunderstood Streep's motivations, saying in full:
