An unemployed high school teacher in Melissa, Texas has been arrested after allegedly leaving his six-month-old daughter in a hot car on Tuesday morning, going inside to take a nap and in the process, causing her death.
The man, Michael Thedford, dropped his two older kids (ages 3 and 5) off at daycare at around 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning with the six-month-old in the car, and he returned home to take a nap.
At 1:00 p.m. when he awoke, he realized he had left the baby girl in the car by accident, and rushed outside to get her.
Temperatures had climbed well over 90 degrees by that point, and four hours in the car had rendered the baby "hot as a brick" and suffering from heatstroke.
