Michelle Kwan Inducted Into The U.S. Figure Skating Hall Of Fame

Kwan Induction

This is a no-brainer! Of COURSE Michelle Kwan should be inducted!

Why? She's only the most decorated U.S. figure skater in American history!!

Here's what she said when she found out:

"Throughout my competitive career, it was always important to me to be a worthy representative of American figure skating and to bring honor to my sport and my country. There can be no greater honor than to be elected to the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame. I am proud and humbled to become its newest member."

With 43 championships under her belt, eight consecutive and nine total titles as well, this induction makes complete sense!

Congrats, Michelle!

MObama Gets Military Families Moving With Help From Pro Athletes

Michella Obama announces new opportunities

First Lady Michelle Obama announced new physical fitness opportunities for military families with a variety of professional athletes at her side on Monday.

The President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition — composed of athletes, nutritionists, pediatricians, trainers and educators — will hold a series of events with military families.

Athletes on the council, like gymnast Dominique Dawes, figure skater Michelle Kwan, Grant Hill of the Phoenix Suns and Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets, led demonstrations at activity stations on the White House South Lawn during the announcement.

About 80 children and their parents participated in the activities included dancing, ball tossing and a three-part obstacle course.

On top of the events held by President's Council on Fitness, Mrs. Obama said the International Health, Racquet and Sports Club Association would offer free memberships to immediate family members of actively deployed reservists.

The American Council on Exercise will also provide at least 1 million hours of free personal training!

While these are great opportunities for military families to get into fighting shape, the First Lady recognizes that these programs alone aren't enough to end childhood obesity.

We can throw as much federal funding in the ring as we want, but in the end healthy lifestyles must be a family effort, so she recommends we get moving any way we can, explaining:

“This isn’t about physical prowess. It’s about movement. And we have to go from sitting to standing to walking to moving.”

She suggests something as simple as a long walk after dinner or dancing with your kids in the living room.

Michelle Obama is definitely an inspiration. Take her advice and get moving with your family!
